It's not that I find it a ball ache I just wondered when to end it? I don't sterilise her water cup

Special care used single use bottles and tears for both expressing and formula. I would wait until babies stop having milk to stop sterilising- just not worth the risk

The Royal free, The Whittington, GOSH and UCL London all use pre made sterilised bottle / disposable teats. Chase farm maternity unit has closed down now, maybe because they didn't use sterilised bottles Wink

DD, born in Scandinavia...never sterilised as it just wasn't done, trying to buy a sterilisers was a nightmare as no one did it. We just washed everything in hot soapy water once the bottle or pump has been used.
DS, born in the UK...completely ignored warnings from HV to sterilise absolutely everything.
Both kids have cast iron stomachs and never ill as babies.

I'm in the US. Sterilizing is not a thing here.

Nakupenda · 29/09/2016 13:22

I sterilised up til about 9 months. Had full intentions of sterilising for the whole year but god I couldn't be arsed.
It was such a faff.
DD is absolutely fine, and probably would be if I didn't bother to sterilise at all to be honest.

If I had another one I wouldn't sterilise.

Kel1234 · 29/09/2016 13:42

I wasn't saying you do, I just mean I know so many other people who say it's so annoying or difficult. Now I'm not one to judge others, but I honestly don't see why it's so annoying to some people.

My daughter was in the nicu of two London hospitals and both used single use pre-sterilised bottles for feeding.

Tiredqueen87 · 29/09/2016 14:22

I've sterilised this aft so still going 🙄

tired I think it becomes habit and we feel bad if we don't sterilise when they are still under a year Smile
Only six months to go and it's full fat milk and sterilising I'll be s thing of the past, my dd is a year now and I'm glad to see the back of my steriliser! I've a tint kitchen and no worktop space so at 6 months I went to cold water sterilising, big plastic lidded container from home bargains and a tablet of Milton, I put it in the dinning room.

Ellieboolou27 · 29/09/2016 14:49

Will be a thing of the past

albertcampionscat · 29/09/2016 21:58

The american academy of pediatricians recommends sterilising the first time you use a bottle then running it through the dishwasher.

dementedpixie · 29/09/2016 22:02

Steriliser is faster than a dishwasher and less risk of them turning orange too

neversleepagain · 29/09/2016 22:53

My twins spent 2 weeks in nicu and when i fed them bm and formula i was shown how to sterilise. Where mothers expressed bm in scbu there were sterilisers for us to use.
