malaleche · 03/02/2007 17:20

i only discovered mumsnet yesterday and have been neglecting my kids (2 dds: 3 yrs and 4.5 mths)eversince.
is it because im desperate for adult conversation?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
fryalot · 03/02/2007 17:21

it is perfectly acceptable for a 3 year old to look after a baby if mum is doing something worthwhile. (honestly) (I think)

TenaLady · 03/02/2007 17:22

Malaleche, it gets worse before you then have an arguement with somebody and then you leave for a while and come back with another name!

lulumama · 03/02/2007 17:22

LOL !! welcome to mumsnet malaleche !! you can never leave !

good for kids to learn to entertain themselves !

yes. It is because you are desperate for adult conversation, and nobody blames you. We are you.

Sheraz · 03/02/2007 17:24

Welcome to our coven of slovenliness. All across the uk young children are having to fend for themselves whilst their mummies decide on which is their favourite song/ recipe/ hunk.

fryalot · 03/02/2007 17:26

and you get used to hearing "mum, where ARE you?" and replying "just doing something very important, darling... will be there in a minute"

hippmummy · 03/02/2007 17:27

I am 30 minutes late doing the boys dinner because I got stuck on a thread

Lizalu · 03/02/2007 17:35

My ds 3yrs has just fallen asleep on the sofa because I was letting the tv babysit while I'm on mumsnet. He's never going to go to bed tonight. Arggh.

WideWebWitch · 03/02/2007 17:36

Welcome to our world, bwah ha ha ha

malaleche · 03/02/2007 18:45

Good, i feel totally justified now, thanks!

While cruising the threads I have been known to answer "just doing my work" when my children ask me what I am doing

lissielousknockedupatlast · 03/02/2007 18:48

pmsl, at some point you will mention in rl a few of your mn mates, i tell dh about the convos ive had thru the day, not so bad, but i tell his family, my counsellor etc

themoon66 · 03/02/2007 18:51

And you will start using words like 'Norks, fanjo, twunt, and lady-garden' in RL.

RustyBear · 03/02/2007 18:51

If I tell my work colleagues anything now, they will ask 'Was that on Mumsnet?', as if I didn't have any other life........

lissielousknockedupatlast · 03/02/2007 18:52

i actually say pmsl and ds in rl too

lissielousknockedupatlast · 03/02/2007 18:52

do you rusty!!! are you saying you have other friends

funnypeculiar · 03/02/2007 18:59

I find smyself wishing I could emoticon rl conversations...

ejt1764 · 03/02/2007 18:59

so glad somebody started this thread ... thought it was just me ....

moondog · 03/02/2007 19:01

You really should never have clicked....

RustyBear · 03/02/2007 19:06

sssh lissie - don't let the cat out of the bag

saffymum · 03/02/2007 19:21

Thats how we all started.....and it gets worse. If i don't start doing some actual work at work instead of just MN I am going to lose my job, but that will be ok because then I can MN all day without feeling guilty. My DS will have to learn to get his own tea. ;0)
