I am doing the DPP. Are you considering the CPP?

mummydear · 06/02/2007 21:45

no but I'm doing NVQ3 in Childcare , Learning and Development whilst working at a playgroup.

Yes thinking about it, just wanted to know what the coursework was like, and how you find it!
bit worried as lil one will only be a year old when i start, and shes not been left with anyone before, and would have to go in the college nursery!!!( i know it its only for one day a week...but i worry, lol!!)

How long is the course for? Mine is four terms and I attend through the PLA once a week from 09:30 - 14:30. The rest is course work and reading. Have you got a placement or do you already work in Pre-school?

pinkystinky · 07/02/2007 19:59

Its a year course, same hours as yours, one day a week.
No dont have a place yet, rang them and got told to ring back after easter( cant do anything before then!) Always wanted to work with kids, but just got side tracked with my four!

Four, wow. Did you know you can do the course via correspondance with National Extension College but you have to pay for it. They don't accept bursaries unfortunately. Saying that I am benefitting from meeting everyone every week to compare notes. I work in Pre-school Monday and Friday and go to collage Thursday. The work load is quite high so you do need to be disciplined. I am not sure what the course work on the CPP is like but a colleague of mine is hoping to start in April.

Yeah i was looking at their prospectus, but if i do it distant learning i need to be able to do work experience( as if i havent enough experience with my lot, lol!!)
The college one looks like what ill have to do. do you know anyone that have studied with the nec??

I did a couple of Gcse's with them a long time ago (early, mid nineties) and they were very good, however don't know if that's still the case. Do the college arrange placements for you if you study with them? A girl on my course has to work voluntarily in pre-school for a couple of sessions a week to be able to do our course (she also works in a bank).
