My mate has been in St Thomas' for 2 weeks now - baby to be delivered by CS on Monday, but she'll be in for a while with other complications. Want to send her some lovely foodie goodies - any ideas, oh lovely and tasteful mnetters?

Best meal I had in hospital was an antipasti selection from M&S!

funnypeculiar · 02/02/2007 21:07

did wonder about just going into M&S and making up a little hamper of my own...

I lived on M&S when I had my section - 5 days or overpriced sandwiches and salads and fruit.

Worth every penny of dh's money.

Recommended.

Twiglett · 02/02/2007 21:14

had 2 sections

please please take her M&S real food

not sweet things (well not totally) .. simple stuff that you can eat .. savoury .. sandwiches / pasta dishes and nice chilled drinks .. she will lurve you for it

and rather than a big hamper arrange for it to be brought in around every meal

aDad · 02/02/2007 21:16

a quality blue cheese and crackers

misty · 02/02/2007 21:17

didn't think you were supposed to eat blue-veined cheese when you were pregnant aDad???

MissGolightly · 02/02/2007 21:18

Konditor and Cooke do gorrrrrrrrrgeous cakes and will deliver. Their magic cakes are great, and good for visitors too. You can get them made up with the baby's name (if it has one yet)

aDad · 02/02/2007 21:18

yeah but i meant for after the section

misty · 02/02/2007 21:19

oops sorry

aDad · 02/02/2007 21:20

i know dp missed cheese more than anything when pregnant and made up for lost time afterwards

funnypeculiar · 02/02/2007 21:32

a Dad - have done a blue cheese and booze hamper before - well I say hamper, I put it all in a avent expressing pump box (as a JOKE) and she thought I'd gone nuts and bought her a breast pump. Didn't open it for 3 days ... by which point if was honking!

Konditor & cooke sound good too - thanks ...
And looks like a big vote for M&S all round (although not sure my budget can stretch to having every meal delivered, Twig )

K&C also do savoury stuff btw, sandwiches, quiches and the like. So you could do a mixed sweet/savoury selection mmmmmmmmmm

We were chuffed to bits when some kind friends drove down from Islington to St George's with a shepherds pie for us, after DS (aged 10 days) had been in for a week. M&S shepherds pie would have been OK too!
