Green poo - is it normal in a Bottle fed 3 month year old?

Sorry to be too descriptive, but for more than a couple of weeks now my 3 months year old (exclusively bottle fed) has had yucky sludgy khaki green poos! Is this normal? He's my second, and I don't remember this with my first.

My dd is 8 weeks old and we have had green poo. Another poster said this was due to too much foremilk (bf babies) and too much gas. Don't know if that helps. TBH I couldn't tell you about bottle fed babies though.

No help what so ever Certainlynot but I have exactly the same thing with a three and half month old who is mostly bottle fed. I am working on the assumption that is he seems happy and isn't dehydrating - I keep checking his fontanelle - I'm not worrying too much.

Hi Certainlynot, if you post this under the breast/bottle feeding section the 'resident' midwives will be able to help you with this one. Not sure if they browse the nappies section.

My ds was breast fed and had the occasional green one, usually when it was really hot and he was having too much foremilk (just kept popping on for thirst and wasn't getting a full feed) (similar to what MrsD has said). Not sure how this would relate to bottle fed though. Sorry.

My midwife once said that babies can do even fluorescent poo (not literally of course, I think she was talking about how varied poo can be) but you should really worry just when it looks to be extremely dry as it may mean baby is dehidrating.

would imagine it is due maybe to iron content of formula. Are you 100% you are using correct formula for age also correct mix to water ratio??
