advice desperately needed please - my dd 2.8 has been potty trained since august - almost 6 months - and over the last 2 weeks has seriously gone backwards during the day - she uses the toilet but is having 3/4 accidents a day - today she had 4 in 10 mins! - sometimes it is because she has left it too late and has just started to wee when she gets to the loo, but other times its like she cant be bothered - twice this week she has weed on my couch and not bothered to tell me, or got upset even!
i am at the end of my rag, even to the point of putting nappies back on
any advice please - ps she is dry at night still

I know exactly what your going through. DD has been fully trained since last March - she is now 34 months. like yours she is still dry at night (since coming off nappies has only wet bed once) and most of the time during the day but at least once every day she wets herself - usually its simply because she cant be bothered to stop what shes doing to go the the toilet.

Cant exactly give advice cos mine is doing the same thing - much to my despair but just thought at least if you knew someone else in same boat might make you feel a bit better.

Could she be ill/getting over something - ds did this and I eventually realised he was still recovering from a nasty cold - after a week or so, we were back to normal...

mummymic does dd2 have any younger siblings? My ds 2.10 has been dry for 7 months now but stii wears a nappy at night and since Ive had another ds 3 months ago hes starting poohing in his pants atleast once a week maybe twice. Was told they regress when a younger sibling comes along. I did a star chart with him. Get 5 stars and he gets a gift. Its worked so far. Also I know it sounds strange but make sure shes having anough to drink. If they are dehidrated it can make them urinate more often as my ds1 used to wet himself at school because he didnt dring enough!!

hi - we do have a younger sibling, but dd was potty trained after he was born - he would be about 3 months when she was potty trained - it only took a week for day and night - very few accidents at night, maybe one a week for the first month - i am looking to see whether it is attention seeking (trying so hard not to shout!)
yesterday we were out for a walk and on the way home i kept asking if she needed a wee and she kept saying no, then all of a sudden she said i need a wee and weed all over herself!
i just dont know what to do

Yes sounds like an attention thing like it is with my ds. Try a star chart too. I did a weeks worth and if he got 5 gold stars, not neccisarily one after the other he got a toy. Working good so far. Only one accident last week. Will start again on Monday. Worth a try.

Gingeme · 03/02/2007 11:31

Oh and yes I know it is very hard to try not to shout at them. Doesnt help and I just feel totaly guilty after. Keep up the good work.

mummymic · 03/02/2007 13:30

thanks - its also nice to know that other children go through the same - and other mums shout too!!!!!!!
