My 7 1/2 month old has another "virus" according to doctor not eaten solids as such since 22nd Jan not interested, given dyrolite and told to keep her fluids up. Her nappies are yellow like cottage cheese effect has about 4 a day plus wet as usual and in between.Since Nov 06 have taken her 6x's including today, told not to give her fruit and veg still stools change, not much choice left to feed her with as she doesnt each tons of food when she is eating, sent away "stool" sample monday to check it out no results as yet, so have asked for referral to see if could be intolerance to baby milk, she was breast fed to 4.5 months then has been on aptamil 1 since and to be honest cannot remember her nappys anything but loose, told could be just her way, but colour is manky. Any ideas of what it could be, is anyone else in same boat, is getting back to perky self but not eating much still. (hmm)

Not sure if this is any help but my DS had a bug in the summer when he was around 4mths and his nappies for a few weeks afterwards were what only I could descibe as 'squity' ie each time he parped we got a wet/dirty one - one day we got through about 10 changes - we were knackered!!. Anyway the HV/doc suggested a temp lactose intolerance - apprently this can happen after a bug and is not uncommon - its not a long term prob I was told to put him on SMA LF for a few weeks (green poo warning!) and then go back to my regular formula (Aptmil 1) - when I went back to Aptamil everything was ok. This was before weaning so we were still reliant on milk.

Thanks pelviceflawd where would i get SMA LF from if "pooh test" comes back negative do you buy or is it on perscription how long did your DS have it for before you took him to the docs. i asked my standin "HV" about as much use as chocolate fireguard, as my regular is on maternity herself.

I think you can get it on prescription but I was told to just get some and try it for a few weeks. Our large town centre boots had it on the shelf (but only ever seemed to display one tin) but when I tried to buy it in my local Sainsbury's they had to order it in. Normally you have to ask for it at the pharmacy as its probably not on the main shelf. Be warned the tin is small so it makes it about twice the price of regular formula - if I ever have the prob again I would push for a prescription - luckily we only used it for two weeks.
