Does the health visitor come every day after baby is born?

I am due in October and I have my first HV this week and I am quite nervous about it to be honest! I am a FTM but this will be my OH third child so he knows what he is doing. All I have been hearing is bad things like if I refuse to have one they will get suspicious and get the SS involved and stuff like that ConfusedShock

I also heard they visit every day after baby is born which I really don't want to be honest! I want them to come and do check ups on baby I don't mind that but I definitely don't want any visitors every single day! Can I refuse this? I just don't want to be bombarded with visitors every day as it is

As you can see from the responses it really depends on the policy of the area that you live in.

The HV team where I am were quite happy to rearrange a visit if it wasn't convenient, and their visits really don't take long assuming you've got no issues to discuss. I would try not to be suspicious or worried about their visits, as they are really only there to help. They'll do the minimum visits and then leave you to it so they can concentrate on those that do need extra help.

my kids are older now but when i had mine the midwife came every day for 10 days
they check your fundus, your legs, ask about your lochia, check that feeding is established etc
weigh the baby, etc

when my eldest was a baby the area i lived in had a first time parent health visitor and she would come and visit once a month i think and bring leaflets etc and have a lovely chat. mine was an older lady called Di and i loved her-she was so sensible and i could tell her anything

my hv with my younger son was like chocolate teapot so i barely saw her

Midwife came day after I got home, then a couple of days later then once a week but after two visits I was signed over to the hv. First saw our hv at four weeks, I think, might have been six. Had a lovely hv who is really helpful.

Definitely doesn't happen in London. I had one MW visit...10 days after I came home. 10. Whole. Days.

The HV came once, about 6 days after I came home but was only really filling in forms and didn't check my C section scar or the baby's cord.

Luckily I had an amazing maternity nurse who was also a trained midwife so my scar was checked, baby's cord cleaned and checked and I was bfeeding happily. The MW and HV might as well not have bothered, they were fairly useless.

Midwife came every day here until they were happy that weight gain and my health was good, then maybe a two day gap, or they asked you to go to one of the local clinics before signing you over to the HVs. WIth DS, we had them twice in one day as he was being monitored for jaundice; ont he second visit they readmitted us.

My HV came to house twice then I just went to baby clinic as and when i felt the need. (Mainly to get baby weighed, but that was just pure nosiness on my part, there wasnt any real need to go). A colleague of mine was seen at her home every week, for about 10, by hv.
