silk liners

I just have to share this: dd has had really bad nappy rash on and off since the beginning of the year. It seems to be aggravated by some of her night nappies, which was getting to be a problem, to the extent I was seriously thinking about going back to disposables. A friend suggested trying silk liners, and to my amazement she can now go all night in the nappies that were problematic with not a red patch in sight!

Did you buy silk liners or cut pieces of silk to fit? (I only ask as I have an old pair of silk trousers that I will never wear again and would love to find a better use for!)

Its raw silk, so I don't know if the trousers would work... I love my silk liners when DS's bum gets sore

yes its raw silk, not the silysmooth stuff.

I tried silk liners but absolutely could not bear the handwashing of pooey silk liners from a teething baby.... So I did the other nappy rash healing thing of making a cup of camomile tea and cleaning bum with that, also soak a liner in camomile and lay between baby and nappy, works every time and no yukky hand washing.

The ones I got are knitted unbleached silk from Twinkle - they're rather ugly brown things, but they do the job. I'm only using them at night, and so far dd hasn't pooed on them!

It is weird but they do work. Even though I never handwashed them - couldn't bear the thought of that [eurgh emoticon] they seem to have survived on a 60 wash.

That's good to know - I don't mind hand washing yucky things (with rubber gloves on!), but life is so much easier if everything can go in the machine together!
