Am only 25 at the moment, but my eldest ds is 10, my dd is 7, ds2 is 5, ds3 just a year and am 30 weeks pg with number 5. my mum was 35 when ds1 was born and she was devastated to be a nan so young, but now loves it as she feels she has the time and the energy to really enjoy them.
Guess I have a good chance of being a young grandma, but don't mind whether mine have their children young or choose to wait, just as long as they are happy.
As far as I am concerned there are pros and cons either way!

cazboldy,

Its not so much being a young gran as such. I just want Ds to really enjoy his young adult years, with no worries about anything else, iyswim.

I was very lucky to have my mum and Ds dads mum to babysit every weekend so i could still be a teenager, BUT i always had Ds in the back of my mind like any mother.

I just want him to be carefree, and enjoy himself a bit before he thinks of having kids.

hello.i have 5 dcs and am 42. my eldest has a 15week old ds. i love being a granny and she is a great mum. the only problem is that i'd like more time to help her but it's difficult with a toddler and baby of my own. i am booked in for a sterilisation, it's the only way i'll stop having more as contraception just doesn't work for me. either that or i become a nun . people say i don't look like a granny. m dh, who is my second husband did need a bit of time to adjust to the idea that he fancied a granny . it's all worth it to see my mil's reaction when i remind her that she's a step great-gran, lol.

that's lovely shosha. some people just take to it well, don't they. i have to admit i used to think you had to be really old to be a grandparent but it seems to be one of those things which is changing, just like 40 isn't old anymore.(not to me anyway)
