WideWebWitch · 27/01/2007 08:44

yes with food colouring that'll wash out, do it

hippmummy · 27/01/2007 08:44

Not sure I would!
Is she at school yet? They may have something to say..

hippmummy · 27/01/2007 08:46

I have images of Stephanie from Lazytown - are you sure you can handle that

Buy a Stephanie pack which has a pink wig in it. I would not under any circumstances dye it (but would possibly use colour spray as a special and one-off treat!)

misdee · 27/01/2007 09:13

she already has a pink wig. not at school.

one stripe maybe?

You can get spray-in, wash-out pink atuff for hair (we did my great-aunt's hair when I was little and found it hilarious, in the manner that small children do). Try a party or stage supplies shop.

mummymic · 27/01/2007 09:59

i would say yes, but tell her its not permanent and only for special occasions/playing/dressing up and would use washable spray stuff or food dye x

adath · 27/01/2007 12:58

Would not die it but would use something that would wash stright out and tell her it was for special only not an everyday thing.

Does food colouring was out of hair easily does it must try it lol.

I wouldn't dye DD's hair

misdee · 27/01/2007 13:30

neither would i ndp, but dd2 is very strong willed. i have had to hide my dye before she does it herself.

i might get her some coloured clip in hair pieces

itsmeNDP · 27/01/2007 13:32

That sounds like a good compromise, misdee

Hallgerda · 27/01/2007 15:17

wickedwaterwitch, not all food colouring washes off skin/clothes - I've found out the hard way!

morningpaper · 27/01/2007 15:20

Mine asks this occasionally

I would do it but not sure what product to use?

pointydog · 27/01/2007 15:41

get the spray stuff and she can have it pink for a weekend or half term or something.

Martha200 · 28/01/2007 08:30

Hehe.. agree with doing this in the hols.
A little 4 yr old wanted his hair dyed blue.. the mum found some temp. stuff, but it lasted WEEKS.. the teachers and other parents were unimpressed though the other children thought it was cool!

NannyL · 28/01/2007 10:11

NO i wouldnt!

WigWamBam · 28/01/2007 10:18

No, I wouldn't - I don't think it's appropriate for a four year old, strong willed or not.

Does she want to do it because you dye your hair, misdee? I'd look at it as I do when dd wants to wear my shoes and make-up to be like me - make it a dressing up game rather than doing something that could damage her hair or irritate her scalp. Use things that aren't chemical, and that definitely won't stay put! Clip-in pieces, braids or hairpieces would be ideal.

misdee · 28/01/2007 10:19

thats pretty much why i said nio WWB. i saw some clip ins in claires last week,. cani find them now? nope!

OP posts:
Dottydot · 28/01/2007 10:25

No, I wouldn't dye it, but you can get some good hairspray colours - ds1 had a wacky hair day at school a few Fridays ago and I sprayed his hair purple and spiked it all up. It looked good and washed out in the bath that evening.

WigWamBam · 28/01/2007 10:26

Oh no, what a shame! Did you ask whether they're likely to have any more in stock? Or can someone try a different branch for you?

Would be nice to get something for her before she beats you into submission over the hair dye!

kittypants · 28/01/2007 10:29

no way!!!!!not even hairspray.
