Why are babies so gorgeous?

Have just been on newborn thread. Am also totally infatuated with dd age 7 months.

Can't decide whether it is squidgy little legs, impish little grin, one (only the one little tooth) little cooing noises, gorgeous smell or overall cuteness.

Anyone else?

It's their job!

fizzbuzz · 24/01/2007 12:28

Yes, but evolution has excelled itself here!

Because otherwise we'd hate them and shove them under the stairs because of the sleep deprivation, the crying... One s*dding smile and you forget what they did. Bah!

my 13 month old is edible.

i love it when she gets excited and she starts that excited baby breathing.

anorak · 24/01/2007 12:33

Yes, I agree with Soupy. It's nature's way of ensuring you take care of them despite the crying, poo, sick, etc...

A most effective form of contraception as well which also helps each individual to survive!

poppiesinaline · 24/01/2007 12:35

ah yes, that mother nature is very very clever

fizzbuzz · 24/01/2007 12:36

yes, but what is the most gorgeous thing about them?

THe Bridge of the Baby's nose is wider, the eyes are more apart then in adults, and that apparently triggers something in our brain to find them so apealing and cute
And, iy is defiantely mother natures way to ensure that a helpless Baby is cared for no matter what

Pavlovthecat · 29/01/2007 14:25

I just posted message in wrong place!

I completely agree. almost 7 month old baby, and me and her father spend most of our time going 'aw look look look' 'isnt she she adorable?', I melt whenever she smiles, she has us both completely wrapped around our fingers.
Isnt nature wonderful!

Pavlovthecat · 29/01/2007 14:27

Most gorgeous thing? Wide almost perpetual crescent moon smile, sparkly eyes, gums, dumpy legs, feet. I cant pick just one!

SmileysPeople · 29/01/2007 14:30

You are conditioned to react this way Pavlovthecat.
Don't you do the same when you a little bell ring?

Pavlovthecat · 29/01/2007 14:34

Thats the dog, the cat is not quite so conditioned!!

SmileysPeople · 29/01/2007 14:35

Just to babies
They should try this with cats in the lab setting, may break new scientofic ground.

SmileysPeople · 29/01/2007 14:36

Scientofic ground was a typo BTW

My typing is crap today, must proof read.

Ok made 3 changes can now click.

Pavlovthecat · 29/01/2007 14:37

lol!

Aloha · 29/01/2007 14:38

Babies have big eyes, short chins, small noses, a small gap between bottom of nose and upper lip and high round cheeks, and that's why we love them. The same features are also attractive in adult females. Babies are also attracted to those features in adults, and spent more time looking at pretty faces than less attractive ones.

Lio · 29/01/2007 14:45

Mine never disobeys me - she's a dream

expatinscotland · 29/01/2007 14:48

They blow raspberries. They look like angels when they're sleeping. They clap their hands.

Even when their faces crumple before they cry, they're still pretty cute.

Mine's a bum shuffler, and she looks so cute scooting round on her plump bum.

Cloudhopper · 29/01/2007 14:49

Their fuzzy hair, the way they smile.

Pavlovthecat · 29/01/2007 15:33

Aw, mine is currently sleeping with her tongue out a little , been out for a ride and still in carseat, in snowsuit which makes her look like a giant marshmallow with little pink rabbit ears! AW...

paulaplumpbottom · 29/01/2007 21:28

It sthose big eyes and chubby little legs. They are to die for.
