I breastfed my son until he was about 2years and 8 months. It was very difficult getting him off the boob. He just loved the boobies beyond all measure.
Fast forward... I'm now 36 weeks pregnant, and he will be turning 4 in August, two weeks after the new baby arrives. I've tried to prepare him for the new arrival. The result has been an obsession with my boobs that is driving me to distraction.
The patriarchy has NOTHING on this child with objectifying my body.
He fondles, pretends to suck, and just generally harasses me at every feasible opportunity. We - nah, ME, have had plenty of conversations about what is private and what he should not touch, and I've yelled "leave my boobs alone" a million times, but to no avail.
This is the conversation our lovely family had last night:
Son: I love your boobies!
Husband: But remember, they are not your boobies.
Son: They are. They are MINE.
Daughter (6): Then why are they on mummy?
Me: (Weeping).
What can I do? I'm at the point of feeling that I don't want to breastfeed the new baby, because I cannot stand this obsession with my body and my bits?
