Terry nappy fold for a very heavy wetting 3 year old boy

Can anyone please recommend a good terry nappy fold for a very heavy wetting 3 year old boy? I normally use a boosted kite fold, but his can be a bit bulky for day use. I know there are lots of different folds and wanted to try something different. Thanks.

loads of different folds on here... some specifically for boys. May be a case of trial and error... good luck!

Yes, thanks. I've already seen this site, but was hoping for some practical advice from anyone that has already experimented with any of these folds?

on spooky's link, try the gaynor fold and add a booster maybe? i know it says it is for girls, but it is very slim fitting round the waist/hips with lots of padding in between the legs. my dd tends to wet at the front anyway and this is fab for her, even overnight.

good luck

Thanks. I'm afraid I'm not getting on very well with the gaynor fold. It does give quite a bit of padding between the legs, but I find the width difficult to boost. Also, it's a bit thin around the thighs.

oh bum (literally!). will have a rummage round my folding diagrams (yes i do have them!) and see if there is anything better. boosting with a muslin might help?

I use the Jo fold from on the nappy lady website for my DS who is only 18months but hes a big boy and a pretty heavy wetter. I find it fine for in the day but I do use toddler terries that are 78cm so it give alot more terry and means it fits him (smaller terries wont go round him with the jo fold so if you have 60cm ones, they might be too small?). There is plenty of fabric at the front so good for boys.

After I have done the fold as it says and have put it under him, I widen the front so it goes round his hips. Then nippa.

Hope that helps?

Thanks Dragonhart. I've never got to grips with nippas, if you'll excuse the pun.I use nappy pins. Will they be ok with this fold, and what sort of wraps to you use?

You would prob need two if you were using pins as it does not meet at the front.

Nippas are really easy to use on this fold though. Worth a try?

Anyway I use motherease airflow wraps (the ones with poppers) as they are nice and loose around the bottom so the terrys are not too squashed against his bottom and lots of air can circulate. WOuld definatly recomend them.

Thanks Dragonhart. I like the Jo fold, it's very neat but well padded between the legs and at the front where it's needed most, and easy to put on with a pin either side. Do you boost yours at night, and if so how best?

I use the Jo fold when I use terries. Ds3 is growing out of the 60cm ones now at 2. At night I pad either with a pad-folded terry or some Kissaluvs boosters. The nippa is easy to use with this fold but ds3 is currently able to undo the nippa before I put the wrap on which leads to some wrestling!

Boomally · 28/01/2007 17:08

I thought I was getting on so well with the Jo fold, but the nappy and plastic pants now keep falling down around his feet, especially when it's sodden! Any suggestions?

The booster pads from Boots saved us when our eldest was heavy wetting at night. Didn't use in the day though.

Dragonhart · 02/02/2007 12:12

Yes, I boost at night with another bamboo terry folded and put at the front,so all the layers are over his willy, not around the back where it is not needed. It is massive but keeps him dry til morning.

Not had the prob with it falling down. Could be that as the nippa is stretchy, you can do it a bit tighter. Also what wraps do you use? I use motherease airflow as they are nice and balloony around the bottom for the terry but quite neat around the legs and waist. They are a bit pricy but worth it I would say.

Not sure if that helps?
