Aptamil alternatives

DD is 13 weeks old and always FF with Aptamil. At about 6 weeks she started to have trouble feeding; griping pains, hysterically crying, in pain farting. After speaking to HV and GP I tried over the course of the next few weeks different teats, Nelsons colic granules, gripe water and infacol etc but didn't improve it. Eventually I changed her milk to Aptamil Comfort on recommendation of GP, and almost instantly she was a changed baby and relaxed drinking (although her poos were really wet). In the past few days she's had diarrhoea (10-12 times a day and dark green poos) and screaming fits, so GP recommended taking her off Comfort, but didn't suggest alternative. HV not much help either.

Anyone had this problem, or suggestions for alternatives?

Thanks X

(Sorry if TMI!)
I had the exact same thing when I switched from breastmilk to formula, and then from normal Aptamil formula to Aptamil comfort because DD was constipated. She had really runny poo for a few days, then horrible diarrhoea poo, but it rectified itself within a week or so. Then her poo was still wetter than it was when she was bf, but more like sludgy mud than liquid.
I think it just took her little digestive system a little while to adjust to being able to poo without straining!

Hi, we will be using Kendamil from November when our second baby arives.

It looks a far more natural product with less oils added, and instead the natural organic fats left in. My friend 's DD experienced this sickness from the Aptamil change last week and tried Kendamil, vows she'll never go back now!

I'll let you know how we get on

Dd1 was on aptamil and had terrible tummy problems. A friend recommended Hipp Organic (readily available in most supermarkets) and we never looked back, within a couple of days she was a changed baby. When we decided to change dd2 from bf to formula we chose Hipp again with no hesitation and had no problem whatsoever. Hope your dd feels better soon whatever you decide.

Started my DS on aptamil and had the exact same problems you describe. We switched straight over to Hipp Organic following recommendations on here and it made such a difference in about 48hrs. We still had colic and reflux to deal with but his poo was much better and he seemed more relaxed and not as windy etc. I’ve heard a lot of the comfort milks end up making babies constipated so I didn’t bother with them. Hope you find an alternative! There has been short supply of the Hipp pre made first infant milk as they have just changed the packaging from cartons to bottles (200ml) but powder still readily available. We bought quite a few ready made up so that we could give DS around a weeks trial on it before using the powder as I didn’t want to get stuck with a big box of it! Can order online from the website. Very quick and easy delivery Smile

I’m not sure about the aptamil comfort but lots of babies are are having a bad reaction to the new aptamil. Could you try another like Hipp Organic or was the GP suspecting CMPA?
