... and BabyDragon's bottom is lovely and pink again. I'm not sure if I can be ar$ed to try reusables again but it galls me to have to give up on them. Bah!

Dd has also had really bad nappy rash, but metanium cream is keeping it at bay, and she's still in her reusables.

SoupDragon · 16/01/2007 21:26

The cream doesn't help. I now no longer think it's nappy rash as such, more of a heat rash or blimmin allergy to the fleece. It happens on the inner thighs which are outside of the nappy too. I'm hoping it's connected to teething or maybe a build up of washing poweder... I've just washed the outers with no detergent to see if that helps. Once the rash has completely gone I'll try again. Very frustrating as I was feeling so smug about how empty my wheelie bin is every week!

And IMO the fact that it very quickly clears up with no cream when she's in disposables kind of proves it's the nappies in some way.

It must be the nappies, I suppose. Which ones do you use?

Nemo2007 · 16/01/2007 21:45

Could be teething as DD1 gets really bad rashes when teething whether in disposables or reuseables.

juuule · 17/01/2007 10:04

Fleece can cause a rash on some babies. Have you tried without the fleece?

SoupDragon · 17/01/2007 10:31

THey're Bumgenius - the fleece is integral to the nappy. She gets it on her legs outside the nappy too which is odd.

my ds seemed like he had allergy to his fuzzibunz fleece so on someone advice i washed them a couple of times with no powder then washed with and is fine again now so could be build up of powder?

SoupDragon · 17/01/2007 10:54

Yes, someone else suggested that. The rash is now gone completely so she's back in a washed-with-no-powder BumGenius to see how it goes. I shall change her more frequently too. If it doesn't work, Ishall be selling the nappies on Ebay!

weve been putting bit of olive oil on lo's botttom after bath

vickyD · 17/01/2007 22:36

Are you sure your washing machine is rinsing properly? I'm having major problems with ours. I'm only aware it's not rinsing properly coz my baby's bottom is so red. After having "watched" it do a cycle, I can see it's still soapy even after supposedly rinsing.Try giving extra rinses, unblocking the outlet filter, or, my next move, using ecoballs!

Hi

had similar problems with recurrent nappy rash have you tried the bourette silk liners they're great at healing nappy rash and i use them all the time now to prevent recurrence i found paper liners triggered it off on a couple of occasions!
