DS dribbles a lot will be 3 yrs in march, due to start nursery. Not sure if we should hold nursery placement until later in the year. Am I making a big deal of this or is this normal behaviour for kids of his age?.
At night still wearing nappy pants to bed would welcome any advice with moving on from this stage also. many thanks

Hi,

Thought i would bump this for you.

I am having similar dribble problems with DD and not sure how to get over this, but at the moment we are just trying to get her on the potty every hour as she has stopped saying she needs to go.

I wouldn't delay nursery because of this. DD attends and has often needed a few changes of clothes and pooed in her pants a couple of times, but they have not complained about it, as its all part of learning.

I will be interested in any advice you get.

I should also add that its amazing what peer pressure will do - for example DD eats lots of new foods at nursery. So your DS might improve if he sees others keeping dry and going to the toilet regularly

I would n't delay nursery just for this. How long would he be there for ? Normally they would have a regular toilet break around snack time so it could be perfectly manageable. Take a change of clothes in case of any mishap and they should be able to deal with it. ds did this a lot when dd arrived but it sorted itself out.

As to nighttime, postpone it until he shows real interest or ability to hold on that long, otherwise you could create an issue needlessly which could also impact in daytime. Unless you are prepared for a lot of work such as lifting and changing wet sheets it is best left later, by which time a hormone naturally triggers their capacity to stay dry and become aware of any need to go which wakes them in time . Ours were almost 4 but anytime from about 2 1/2 to 7 is normal.

Many thanks pulapula and lizs. At this point I haven't spoken with nursery regarding ds, however each week he attends a creche for one hour (keep fit class for mum!) each time I've collected him he is soaked which meant a complete change socks, pants, vest everything (change of clothes provided but no-one seemed to notice how long he'd been wet) so I was getting a bit wound up incase this would be the same with nursery but after reading what you guys have said I know better.
Will speak with nursery staff soon regarding ds start date. Pulapula I will let you know what advice I get.
Lizs I am hoping to have ds in 5 mornings which is the max 2.5-3hr a session each day. Thanks for your post made me realise expecting a little too much with regards to night time dryness will hold off till later for sure. Thanks again
