DS wont use a grown up loo....

My ds is 3 in march.Have tried twice in the lasst 6 months to train but stopped it both times after 3-4 days as realised was not ready.
He started pre-school on the 3rd Jan and last week started mentioning going to the toilet quite alot.He came home on Thursday and Friday and asked to use the potty and wanted big boys pants on.He has not pood in his nappy for 6days now as he has asked to do in the potty.I asked him today if he would like a nappy or pants on and he replied pants so this is what he has worn all day.Iv asked him only once if he wants a wee but every other time he has took himself to do a wee in the potty. He announces each time with very slight panic that he needs a wee or a poo and runs towards the potty. On some occassions has said "oooh quick I dont want to do it in my pants".He pulls trousers and pants down and up himself.
To me he is clearly ready to take the plunge, but I know he wont do it on a grown up loo. This is fine but what about going out?
The potty that he has is a huge one and cant be taken with us.Has anyone else had this prob?If yes what do you do?
Im a firm believer in going straight to pants and not confusing with pull ups.He wears a pull up at night and has got up a few times in the morning and said "I need a wee,oh its ok as I have a nappy on"Is it good for him to think this or say this?
Please advice...

Can you progress through a little loo seat that you put on the big loo (much less gross than potties anyway)? I think you can also get a portable seat to take out with you. But tbh once they've grasped the big loo you can take them out IME and just hang onto them as they use a big loo.

I cannot condone this as it was horrible
Same senario as you - Mumtooliver
Potty fine - household toilet not fine -other peoples household toilet fine
Hold small child on said household loo when you know they are desparate and break the cycle of fear - again I cannot recommend this as it was a heartbreaking as CC - but it worked and only needed to be done once

Ok.Sounds like thats what needs to be done Indignatio.
Iv tried in the past to encourage big toilet but he gets really upset and almost petrified.
The potty that I have has a white toilet seat around a green bowl in the middle which can go on the big toilet but I just know that it wont make any dofferenvce,he will still hate it.I will try tomorrow.
This sounds so horrible but it really isnt the best timing for me that he is so ready now as Im 8months preg.I just hope he is as ready as he seems.
Wish me luck all.....

My ds refused to use the big toilet for ages.I
just took a potty everywhere fro poos he weed standing up .He then used a seat on the potty for poos until one day he decided to use the loo without it.We couldn't force him ,it caused meltdown. He had to just take his time, infuriating as it was.He did sit on the big toilet when I forgot his seat once and that hurried it along a bit.

Our DD was resistant to the big toilet too, until she saw others using it at nursery (although they are kids size ones). Afte this she wanted to go on the loo all the time, but now the novelty has worn off, she tends to use potty at home and loos if we are out. You could ask pre-school what he uses
there and encourage him to use the loo. I am sure that if we "lost" the potty at home she would use the loo, but we're in no rush. We used to have a porta-potty but don't need to carry that round anymore. They are only small, so your DS might not be keen, but you could try it so that you don't need to carry your big potty around.

My ds refused to use the loo today at pre-school and wet himself.

He also refused to have a nappy on and using the basic potty I sent.

My ds will not use a toilet anywhere and will only do it with me at home. What can I do?
He doesnt drink alot and can go a few hours so he holds it.He obviously isnt totally desperate as he would wet himself all the time.We havent stayed out long enough for himt o become desperate so just goes as soon as we get home.
