my ds1 is just 6 and still wears a pullup nappy at night - I have tried lifting him, (he doesn't even wake up when I do this - still wets again later on) less drink, no nappies also spoke to hv who said give him more to drink to trigger a full bladder - duh, what (did try it more wet!) ?!!. My ds2 who is 3.5 has now been dry for just over a week through the night, will getg up and go straight back to sleep again... has anyone any advice what I can do to help my eldest - he so desperately wants to be dry but can't wake up (incidentally I used to be a very deep sleeper too and was late getting dry through the night...) Any advice??!!

a child cannt be dry at night until a hormone is released that slows the production of urine at night

until this happens (which is normally any time between 2 and 7 years) there really isnt much you can do... other than persevere with pull ups or change loads of wet beds!

dont worry about it... drs dont even consider it to be a problem until the child is 7 anyway!

Raise the end of his bed by about 6 inches. This weird piece of advice was given to me by my grandmother. Apparently my mum wet the bed until she was 6 but this 'cured' her. Used it on my own DD1 when she was about 3 or 4. Had been dry at night for over a year and then suddenly wet the bed every night for 3 weeks. The bedwetting stopped the first night the Yellow Pages went under the bottom of her bed. Took YP away after a couple of dry nights, she wet the bed again. Raised bed again for about three weeks and has been fine ever since. HTH
