My DD (23mo) says toilet or potty nearly everytime she wants a wee. If she is running around the house with no nappy on she even takes herself to the bathroom for a wee on her potty. With this in mind, last friday i decided to put her in pants (apart from her naps where i pop a pull up on her). She was dry fri,sat and sun. Since wearing pants, today was the first time we left the house with no nappy on. I asked her regulaly at my friends house does she want a wee/potty etc she refused to go to the loo, and subsequently wet herself twice. I am putting it down to her being overexicted and playing with my DD's son, but now I am wondering whether i have put her in pants to early, should I stick with it? Do you think it was just excitement? Is this all part of learning to use the potty/toilet in different environments?

No, stick with it. Me and my ds left puddles in every shop in town for about a week. Then he was OK. And you'll save a fortune in nappies.

I think you should stick with it - it's pretty common for them to be dry for a few days and then "forget" or get so engrossed in their play that they have accidents.

I didn't ask dd if she needed the toilet at that stage; I just took her every so often and asked her to try. I only needed to do that when we were out and about, and then only for a couple of weeks until I was sure she was reliable in telling me that she needed a wee.

thanks for your advice ladies, I will stick with it. I guess i needed to hear a bit of encouragement along the way, was very daunting leaving the house with no nappy on her!!
