Hi, like all of you I'm sure I have been having trouble finding the time to get on Mumsnet. Hope everything is going well for you all. I love being a mum!
I thought we needed to have a post to discuss stuff as Feb, April and May have them but not us.
DD was born 29 March and is a real character showing lots of personality. Hopefully I won't be alone for long.

I'm not the best person to ask about expressing as I was useless and gave up. Isn't there some type of tea you can drink which helps increase your supply.
dd has formula during the day and I bf every morning after her breakfast and then bf again after her bath after dinner.

Aargh! DD will not be in daycare tomorrow as she can't go within 24 hours of throwing up, which she just did from 9-10:30 PM. Mostly on me. She doesn't like throwing up on Daddy, so he did the laundry while I held her. Poor thing. And poor me as now I have to work and go to the Dr's on no sleep with baby.

Chuffed · 14/10/2004 09:08

oh no, poor you CG. Can you work from home? dh and I were only saying this morning that it would be nice to have a day at home but we don't want to wish dd sick.
I hope that she has some nice sleeps today which means you can nap and get a bit of work done in peace.

She woke up again just before 1 and I fell asleep while she was eating, so she filled her stomach, fell asleep on top of me, and then threw up volcanically without even waking up. Then we did little feeds at 3, 5, 5:30, 6, 6:45 and 7:45 -- without problems until she threw up (on Daddy!) at 8:30. I foresee a loong day, as the nurse said to BF (briefly) every 30 to 60 minutes until it had been 8 hours since she threw up last.

TracyK · 14/10/2004 18:26

poor baby - hope she gets better. nothing worse than a sick baby - well maybe a sick dh!

Chuffed · 14/10/2004 21:50

yes get well messages coming from central London too!

Blooming ds - won't eat anything but half a jar of stuff today and milk. Won't entertain mashed potato, carrot, parnsip and cheese or banana porridge! I hope its a phase!
How's dd CG?

californiagirl · 15/10/2004 18:23

DD is mostly perky today. Would not entertain the notion of toast at breakfast (we have breakfast out on Friday with my father and a friend who is her honorary great-grandmother, and my father gets toast with no butter so she can have some, so he was disappointed) but ate small amounts of melon. And, thank goodness, she is napping! I am also much perkier having gotten relatively speaking a lot of sleep last night, while DH mended a suitcase with my sewing machine and then washed the breast pump for me so it would be ready in the morning. He is a superstar, I tell you.

He had to watch her yesterday for my Dr's appointment and discovered there was no change table in the men's room (at the gynecologist). The receptionist was outraged, and called the facilities department immediately, saying they'd promised her they would fix it months ago.

TracyK · 15/10/2004 19:34

glad to hear alls on the mend! it's amazing how much better you feel after some sleep!
how does your dd eat her toast? ds just soggies it up, swallows it whole and then regurgitates it for the dog in a oner!

californiagirl · 15/10/2004 20:47

We tear off small bits of toast for the baby, and she soggies it up and swallows it. She will eat toast or breadcrusts, but not soft bread (this is bizarro baby, who would rather chew on a banana stem than eat banana!) Toast rarely comes back. (and is not identifiable in her diaper, which I consider a plus).

Chuffed · 16/10/2004 08:21

dd just sucks it a bit and then spits it out. I dont' think she swallowed any of it so we have put toast on hold for a bit.
Slightly better night for us last night, I feel grotty with a headache, cold etc but dd is perky as usual so we'll see how our day goes.
Have a great weekend.

I just wonder if ds is trying to fight off a cold. He's hardly eating any solids and looks knackered even though he's only been awake for an hour or so and keeps sleeping. Not complaining, although he's sleping in the car just now and I'd love to have a nap too - but can't s I have to keep popping out to check hes still asleep.

Chuffed · 17/10/2004 14:15

Any sign of a cold? It could also be growth spurt as aren't soem growth spurts related to requiring lots of sleep?

OP posts:
TracyK · 17/10/2004 15:56

Oh do you think that might be what it is - he's very sleepy again today. Although he was sick last night/this morning and so was I - so maybe a little bug going around.
Tried him with potato, broccoli and cheese again and not so keen today! He prefers the yukky bland jar food!

Chuffed · 17/10/2004 18:07

there is a bug going around - everyone seems to have a cold at the moment.

sorry to hear everyones babies are sniffy
we have had nothing but snotty noses here for ages now but luckily thats about as far as it seems to go but right now I'm knackered too as both ds 's are teething at the same time - last molars for ds1 and first tooth!!!! for ds2 - how cute he looks with his little old man face and solitary tooth.
he's not too keen on his food because of that unless it is something pretty solid that he can chew on - we give him pretty much anything to chew on these days during our own meals altho I puree his dinners. today he did a good job on whole bits of pasta and a biscuit.
he passed his bcg test so we know that the first jab worked well and he doesn't need another - good news as they tend to scar so i was nervous about having to give him another one.
right now I can't leave the room for a second without heartfelt wails and pathetic crawling to trya and catch up with me - cute but slightly irritating if you're trying to tidy up the breakfast for example

TracyK · 21/10/2004 17:18

ds still won't take savoury solids - have to mix them all with yoghurt or banana porridge -and defo no lumps! I hope he doesn't become a fussy eater.
My mum was visiting this week and I noticed ds was a bit whingey when I left the room - I hope it doesn't get too bad a phase of clingyness.
2 teeth through now - am going to attempt brushing them tonight in the bath.

californiagirl · 22/10/2004 00:08

We went on holiday for the weekend, at which point we discovered that whatever the baby had, it was catching. One at a time, DH, me, my friend, and her DH, each spent 12 hours throwing up... The baby was fine though.

She has now decided to do the clingy thing and is howling when I leave her at nursery, a great surprise to everybody as the first few weeks she didn't mind at all. But she's getting more and more into food, and is actually eating reasonably amounts of baby food.

Chuffed · 22/10/2004 09:25

dd seems to be recovering to a certain extent from her cold but I'm just getting worse. No throwing up yet (touch wood). 2 teeth through here and yes don't they do look so cute with them.
Tracy dd wouldn't eat any lumps in her food but we perservered with warm weetabix as when it is warm it is pretty smooth and then put hand mushed banana with it for flavour and a few soft lumps as again warm banana is so soft the lumps don't seem so lumpy IYKWIM. She still isn't that keen on other lumpy foods.
CG is starting to shed just a few more tears at nursery now. She hasn't cried when we drop her off but when we go to pick her up she comes flying crawling along the floor at us or if she is having a nappy change or something then she starts crying as she can't get an immediate cuddle...bless. I think it has just hit home that once she is there she doesn't see us for a long time.
morocco we haven't done the bcg thing, I'm hoping dd gets immunity from me, good news for ds though.

TracyK · 22/10/2004 19:11

Today - better at food. Still only stage 1 jars - but taking savoury alone - so I'll take it one step at a time and try and work my way back to the lumpier stuff he was eating a few weeks ago.
Only 1 nap today!! He was up at 4.30am, fed, slept till 6.30, fed, slept till 8.30am. Then napped 11.30-12.30 and stayed awake till 7pm! Didn't seem overly tired in his bath - I do hope its a one off and that he hasn't given up one of his naps already.

morocco · 24/10/2004 22:47

ds has got a bit worse and has a very chesty cough which sounds a bit disturbing - I'm debating whether to take him to the doctors or see how it goes - in hmself he seems absolutely fine which is why I haven't whisked him off already
we've been sleep training this week as I was so knackered with broken sleep that I pranged the car a few days ago - for a few nights dh got up to look after ds when he woke up and so he didn't get any milk - just cuddles - he wasn't too impressed! now though he just wakes up for a bottle of water at around 5 then goes straight back to sleep. he's really enthusiastic about his water bless him and giggles away to himself. I hope that prety soon he'll stop waking up for the water too - fingers crossed
first tooth is very cute!

Chuffed · 25/10/2004 09:23

Well we had huge sicks on Saturday night 3x all over dh. They ended up in the bath together at 9pm trying to get clean. She seemed fine on Sunday thank goodness a bundle of laughs. We have some beauty photos of big grins with the two bottom teeth showing through. Isn't it just sooooo cute.
Oh Morocco I hope you start getting some good sleep soon, I can't imagine having two waking up.

OP posts:
TracyK · 25/10/2004 15:29

I don't know why ds won't take lumpy food - he wolfed down some bits of crust at lunch time - huge bits they were too. I think he just wants what we have and not what's baby food.
May be going back to work after Xmas - girl who had my job has just quit - so will have to put ds into nursery 5 mornings a week. I think he loves it there - in fact I think he prefers it to home!
dh and I have both had bugs for the past few days - hope ds doesn't catch it as we are off home to Scotland tomorrow for the week.

Chuffed · 26/10/2004 09:09

Have fun in Scotland Tracy.
dd isn't that fond of lumpy food yet, I'm sure it'll come in time.

OP posts:
TracyK · 30/10/2004 16:40

Back from hectic time in Scotland.
ds has decided he likes food again and has been eating what I've been having eg mashed pot, salmon and broccoli, scrambled eggs, soup with bits of bread through it. I do hope it lasts this time.
