My DS is 4 and 4 months and as all his chums are dry at night and he is starting school tomorrow - decided it was time to try and get him out of nappies at night.
Well... me and my plans! Ha! He has wet the bed every night maybe 2-3 times, even though we wake him and make him go for a wee before we go to bed. He never wakes, even if he is sodden, sleeps so deeply that he barely wakes even if your changing him!
Some of my friends say keep going others say he is clearly not ready. My gut tells me he's not.
So I am relieved to see others saying that it is a development thing. Poor little blighter is waking up with a sore botty every morning just so I can say to everyone 'he's dry at night'.

I know it's difficult, but I don't think he's ready. Mine is 3 and still in nappies full time. When you say he is waking up with a sore bottom every morning, is that with or without a nappy on? If he is wetting the bed every night 2-3 times, I would definitely put him back in nappies.I would find it too stressful to have sodden sheets and mattress etc. every morning. What type of nappies do you use on a 4 year old? I recommend good old terry nappies with traditional plastic pants over the top. At night I would use a 'kite' fold, with another nappy folded double or triple on top. If you make sure all the nappy is inside the plastic pants, you should get no leaks, and although the nappy is bulky, no soreness either. I know someone who's girl was in nighttime nappies until after 6, so there's hope yet. Don't despair.
