Is your baby having an easter egg

Curious to know whose baby is having Easter eggs this year.

My DD is 8 months and 2 people have bought her Easter eggs. She won be eating these for a bit, mainly because I am terrified of her choking but also I think she's a little young for chocolate but I know it wouldn't harm her. It just irritates me that people feel the need to include her in Easter this year, she's just a baby!

DD is 7.5 months and not been given any eggs, doubt she will.

Maybe next Easter I'll let her have a couple of bits.... I'm not anti-chocolate (stuffing my face with an Easter egg as I type!) but I don't especially want to give her sweets and chocolate until she's a bit older.

rosieliveson1 · 25/03/2016 22:15

Bit harsh there usual!
My DS1 was 6 months at Easter and was given eggs, buttons, books and a giant chocolate rabbit. I think people mainly realised that he wouldn't eat them but gave them as a gesture. Ds2 is 5 months and had had more useful things like vests and a rattle so far.
It's irritating as it seems pointless but it's done with love and good intentions Grin

Ughnotagain · 25/03/2016 22:22

Just eat them yourself. My 10mo has been given a couple. I'm going to eat them. It's really not a problem HmmGrin

My precious THIRD born is 22m and probably won't be having much / any chocolate. I have bought him an egg cup Blush he has a small egg and a mug from my mil same as the other dc and he'll probably have a little bit as he has 2 siblings who will have some but that's all.

He does have more chocolate than dc1 at his age but that is because he has two older siblings - they also have much less than average I'd say, in part because they have a small brother, so it probably evens out.

Perfectly possible to have the same ideals further down the parenting line, and it's a bit patronising to suggest people who don't feed their babies Easter eggs are being precious.

HardleyWorthit · 25/03/2016 22:24

People are more than welcome to buy my 8 month old Easter eggs, she I will have a great time stuffing her my face with them.

Bicnod · 25/03/2016 22:29

DD (DC3) is 14 months old and I'll be eating the inevitable deluge of Easter eggs on her behalf this year. Probably won't get away with it next year but she's pretty much oblivious to what's going on and really doesn't need chocolate yet IMO.

DS1 and DS2 both started having bits of chocolate somewhere between 18 months and 2 years.

So I'd just say thanks and then scoff it yourself... One of the perks of being a parent.

bushtailadventures · 25/03/2016 22:30

DGD (13 months) has one egg, she will have a little bit after lunch, maybe...no doubt her DM and Uncles will eat the rest. She has an Easter book and a Bunnykins Easter bowl though, in an effort to keep the chocolate to a minimum.

MammyHester9116 · 25/03/2016 22:35

My ds is 11 weeks. My do and sil have bought him clothes! If he had been given eggs I (and dh) would eat them.

magpie17 · 25/03/2016 22:45

My DS is 8 months and hasn't been given any eggs yet, I'm a bit jealous! If he does get any I'll just smile and say thank you and eat it myself. I don't really see the need to feed him rubbish so he feels 'included', he doesn't even know what Easter eggs are!

kiki22 · 26/03/2016 11:27

It irritates you people feel the need to include her in Easter.... Seriously I would change that way of thinking its a good thing she's included and not just a baby.

I brake all ds's Easter eggs to bits put them in a container in the fridge and it lasts him months specially when he was little.

dairymilkmonster · 26/03/2016 14:45

ds2 is 9mo and has been given a tiny lindt bunny and a 2inch high hollow egg. objectively tiny amount - will give in little portions gradually over a few days. i think he will survive, and enjoy, this process!

GoldPlatedBacon · 26/03/2016 18:37

My dd is 8 months old. She was given an egg today by PIL. I said thanks and put it in my bag for me to munch later.

I don't want her to have chocolate at this stage (I have a horrendous sweet tooth) and am not planning on giving her any sugar apart from fruit until her birthday when she can have some cake. Pfb I may be but so what.

ODog · 26/03/2016 21:19

DS was 10mo last year and we got him the tomy plastic eggs. Other people got him chocolate eggs and we let him have a little taste but we are then mostly.

This year he is 22mo and we bought him an Easter INTG story book and a peppa pig breakfast set that comes with a small chocolate egg. Again other people have bought him eggs and we will let him have a little bit each day (I'm 8 months pregnant so obviously will have to share with the new baby Grin). Much like at Xmas. A little bit isn't going to hurt.

Dixiechick17 · 27/03/2016 21:54

Am enjoying tucking into the chocolate my ten month DD received :) she's not great with food in general so we avoid giving her chocolate. Shes has had a very tiny bit, plus recently diagnosed lactose intolerant so it's a no no now anyway.

LuluJakey1 · 29/03/2016 23:25

DS (15 months) got white chocolate egg from PIL. He is allowed a small piece each day. Today it was 4 buttons. I don't think they touched the sides.

Pinkangel23 · 29/03/2016 23:35

6 month DD got 3 eggs: 2 as gifts and a token one from us with her name on it. She had a few licks of that one on Easter Sunday...Blush. Although DS (7) didn't get any chocolate until he was at least 1.

Cathster · 30/03/2016 08:45

We got asked whether our 6mo DD preferred dark or milk chocolate! Grin thinking about it I should have said she likes all of it or something and got me some more chocolate, but as it was I said she doesn't eat chocolate and we got yet another stuffed toy instead.

BertrandRussell · 30/03/2016 08:57

It's your ilswho gave your baby the eggs isn't it?

No- I don't know you in rl- just a wild guess! Grin

proudmom135 · 30/03/2016 16:27

Lol! This is a fun way of involving our kids to the traditions. I received 2 easter eggs but until now, they were not eaten yet.

Debsy1234 · 30/03/2016 16:40

Thanks for your responses. I get chocolate won't kill her but yeah I don't want her becoming a bad sweet tooth and being all 'fat and fillings' as I call it, like my partner and his sister were throughout their childhood.

I've given her ice cream so probably wouldn't harm to have a bit of chocolate right? Hmm

Bingo!

Luciferbox · 30/03/2016 17:50

7 month old DS has been given 5. I have enjoyed them very much.

snorepatrol · 30/03/2016 17:50

Dc 1 first chocolate was at about 12month old

Dc 2 first chocolate was at 12weeks old Blush Though not by choice dc1 kindly stuffed a chocolate button in his mouth while she was eating them. It melted straight away though as it had been in dd's sweaty hands and was already half melted when it went in. her first food was a biscuit at 4months again thanks to dc1 he does have a terrible sweet tooth though Grin
