Where can I buy nappy liners on the High Street?

I'm fed up of buying paper liners (my only consumable) online and paying disproportionate postage - is there any normal shop I can get them such as a supermarket? Now DS's are both toddlers I don't even go to Mothercare any more, and I draw a blank in Asda, Superdrug, Boots etc.

I do have some fleece ones but the handfuls of poo are getting me down!

I got mine from boots - they're boots own make in a blue plastic thing and look like wet wipes. Waitrose also do them.

Twinklemegan · 05/01/2007 23:01

I have to travel 15 miles to my nearest Mothercare. Having said that, last time they had run out - said everyone panic buys them when they've got them in stock. Keep meaning to source some on the internet being that a 30 mile round trip in the car isn't the greenest thing in the world! Our Boots stocks absolutely zilch to do with reusables - apart from a few packs of nippas bizarrely.

suzycreamcheese · 05/01/2007 23:13

mothercare does them; or local health shop, ours used to or greenish type chemist could?

Waitrose sell the Little Green Earthlets liners in rolls of 100. I used to get mine from there but now the children are older I use home made washable fleece liners

BigBellyCornflakeKid · 06/01/2007 08:44

See if you have a cloth nappy advisor nearby - they will probably keep stock of them or local organic/health food shop??

UniSarah · 06/01/2007 10:03

I get mine at an independent baby stuff shop- pushchairs cots that sort of thing. They are on the high street but not every town has one.

Thanks everyone.

Today I went to a big Boots, Mothercare World and a Babies R Us Superstore, to encounter three empty shelves and assistants who did not know what I was asking for anyway! I think Twinkle had a point about the panic buying.

If only there was a Waitrose anywhere near us, I like those Earthlets liners too. Well, I've ordered a roll of 200 liners from ebay to keep me going, I think those are the thin sort but I shall put them over a fleece at night to catch the solids.

I have also bought a yard of fleece and will cut it up tonight! Give up

John Lewis stock them - also drew a blank with highstreet stores....

Twinklemegan · 08/01/2007 22:18

It's no wonder 99% of people (or some such figure) fill up the landfill sites with disposables.

nuttygirl · 09/01/2007 09:01

I know what you mean about them being hard to find. Our local Boots has them in sometimes but only ever a couple of packs. Toys r us has space for them on the shelf but NEVER has any . However I have found Sainsburys seem to have a reliable stock but they are quite hard to find (usually with sterilising stuff like Milton). Also couple of organic shops sell them.

Scootergirl · 09/01/2007 09:04

The big Tesco in Swindon does them if you'te anywhere near

viticella · 09/01/2007 14:21

Found some in another Boots today but forgot that they are NOT FLUSHABLE. AAAARGH.

Now an excuse to go to John Lewis, that's different !

How bad is flushing non flushable wipes and liners? I tend to flush them if they are quite yucky. I'm feeling quite bad now.

Twinklemegan · 09/01/2007 16:05

NG - my local Sainsbury's doesn't even sell Milton!

UniSarah · 09/01/2007 21:00

1 big danger with flushing non flushable wipes is blocking your drain. And trust me, if it ever happens to you its a vile experience. our garden ended up covered in sewage when it happened.

burstingbug · 09/01/2007 21:42

eeeew

kittypants · 10/01/2007 11:56

ive got a roll of imse ones if you want them.i gave up on liners.

redclover79 · 10/01/2007 16:03

I'm planning to put my 2nd child in reuseables when it arrives! Nowhere on the high st sells anything related to reusables. Twinklemegan, our local boots does nippas too, I bought a couple of packets and it turned out they were reduced for clearance (not marked on the shelf), think I paid £1.50 a packet!
Have also emailed Sainsburys to register my disgust, apparently there's no demand for them, i.e. they won't make a killing on them so they won't be bothering... But they will be passing my concerns on to their buying department blah blah blah. Have you tried going to the makers website and asking where they are stocked near you?

kittypants · 10/01/2007 16:24

mothercare do stuff

Twinklemegan · 10/01/2007 18:20

It's a self-fulfilling prophecy this "no demand" stuff isn't it. I personally think the stores should stock some things like this just because it's the right thing to do, even if they mightn't sell that many. They might be surprised if they give it a bit of time.

BexieID · 11/01/2007 10:59

Tesco do the PHP ones, but they make Tom sore. The ones in Waitrose did the same. I prefer the Boots own ones. Our local one hasn't had any the last few times I have been in, so i'll probably end up 'panic buying' some when I see them next!

I had tried various makes people have on ebay and the Boots ones seem to be the only ones that don't make Tom sore. When he was a newborn, we couldn't use Tesco own nappies as they made him sore.

mummyhill · 11/01/2007 11:16

I get PHP ones at our local Sainsburys have to hunt for them in the baby isle but they are usually there.
