Bedtime Stories- how do you introduce them?

My Ds is 6 months old and I want to start reading bedtime stories to him- his night time routine is as follows: he has a bath, a bit of playtime and then his last bottle then bed. I tried to read to him yesterday after his bath but he had a tantrum, cried and through the book away (can they have tantrums at 6 months old?). So any tips on when/ how to introduce bedtime stories? Thanks!

I think I just started reading it to them. They got teeth early, so at that age, I was doing bath, breastfeed (then later bottle), teeth and then story. But they were really happy with it, so I never had your problem.

he is the same if I read to him earlier to be honest- he won't sit still long enough, although I did the same tonight and we managed to get through 1 page before the book went on the floor- I'll keep perservering!

I have a drop down side cot so he gets into bed and I put my arm around him and we just looked at really simple book pages and i named a few things. Then its a song and then lights out. Although I think I started a bit later than 6 months probably more like 9 months.

we've read to DS from birth. Now he can sit on our lap, we read him a story once he's had a bath, then he has a bottle and goes to bed. He's 6 1/2 mths now.

I read to dd from early on and similar to your DS she wasn't desperately impressed at first. I just kept persevering and never making her listen to a story, if she only wanted a page then she only got a page. She is now nearly 2 and a complete bookworm
