I've been using the dentinox cradle cap shampoo for several months now on ds it doesn't seem to be making any difference. Any tips?

Don't use the bath water to rinse their head. Always use clean water, worked for us.

Only thing that worked for my DS was Nizoral. I still use it on him once a week now (he's 2) to keep it at bay.

MooGoo scalp cream. Works a treat!

Or oil for a little while (but not overnight as excess oil makes it worse) then gentle shampoo and gently rub with a flannel or soft hairbrush.

Would you do the same for a slightly older one? DS is 2 and has full head of hair but when I look closely between the hairs there's lot of cradle cap in there.

Will it just go eventually? It's not visible and he hates havi his hair washed - we hardly ever do it!

Cradle cap is a form of dermatitis. As such, it's best treated by a doctor. You wouldn't pick off eczema scabs anywhere else on a baby's body so please don't pick them off their heads, whether with oil or not. There are mild steroid shampoos available on prescription that will clear this form of dermatitis within a couple of applications ie you use them for such a short amount of time that even the usually very mild side effects that can happen with long-term steroid cream use just don't apply. And they do actually work.

But it's not the same as eczema in the sense that cradle cap tends to form as loose scales which can be easily removed to reveal normal skin underneath.

I didn't pick DD's cradle cap and it hung around for months. I (gently!) picked at DS's - especially the eyebrow scales - and he was rid of it much faster.

I know you're not supposed to pick, but at the end of the day I couldn't see the harm in it. And you're a lot more gung ho when it's not your PFB Grin

We used coconut oil. Massaged it in at night time then washed hair in the morning with a bit of a scrub with a flannel. DS has a patch that has come back that I'm going to do this weekend.

I used olive oil 30 min to 1 hour before bath , then washed with cradle cap shampoo, you are ment to keep it on hair a few minutes then used baby comb gently next morning or when the hair is dry . the brush may work better if the flakes are very small but didn't do much on my LO, she was covered in big dry flakes. It took 3 times to clear up. Good Luck
