I would recommend borrowing a trial kit either from a local real nappy network or a Lollipop advisor. This way you can try lots of different nappies without commiting any money until you know what you wannt OR buy some cheaply on mn or ebay and try them out.

The only ones I would not recommend are kushies simply because they take so long to dry, are only guaranteed for 120 washes, there is very little elastic in the back so poo shoots up the back and last but not least the pvc outer can rub their legs.

I am a bit of an addict so I love all other nappies! (except disps!)

eldestgirl · 01/01/2007 11:14

That's really funny because I love my BMs and have been using them solidly for almost 6 years. Just have to replace a few of the small and large ones recently...
What do you hate about them? The wraps are rubbish so I don;t use those admittedly, but the nappies have been great.

Gingerbear · 01/01/2007 11:21

I used motherease ad tots bots with DD 5 years ago. Have had a chat with more recent nappy users, and this time I am going to try bamboo nappies as they are slimmer fit than the tots. For wraps I like the motherease poppered ones and tots bots velcro ones.

I have been looking online and I am liking the idea of the all in ones, are they any good, is so which ones?? The problem with the ones I am using at the moment is the fact that the nappy skids to the back of the wrap and the wraps rub on my dcs skin giving them sore bits although the absorbancy is pretty good on them.

My DD has totsbots bamboozles with a motherease rikki(sp?) wrap. No probs with wrap coming off as fits really well.
FWIW I tried Bambino mios with DS a few years ago and I agree they were awful, but am well impressed with the totsbots.
There is lots of good info on babykind.com

eldestgirl, sorry to jump in but what wraps do you use with your bambino mio's?

Emskilou · 01/01/2007 12:51

Thank you mamijacacalys I will have a look at that website, my dd just 2 has also learnt to take off her nappy now, most delightful when she has had a poo and there are part of the nappy and bits of poo everywhere

Personal favourites are motherease one size and tots bots. Also really like wambamboo nappies and ideal pocket nappy is swaddlebees. Night time is minki huggle.

SAHMof1 · 01/01/2007 14:57

I like my MEOS, and my minki pocket nappy. If you want an all-in-one style, go for a pocket nappy ? they wash and dry quicker and last longer.

Also, definitely see if there is a nappy trial service near you (I am a nappy agent and I have a trial kit if you?re near Swindon, Wiltshire) ? if not use the nappy finder to find an agent near you. They will be able to help you.

Tot bots given mine a rash around the hips! I use Bumpy Imse Vimse day and night wraps. I have boys with no hips, skinny legs and small bums, so maybe that makes a difference?

jollyfolly · 01/01/2007 15:18

we used terries when ds was small and then changed to moterese one size when he was about 4 months, now at 18 months we use a booster pad as well.... have always found them easy and fairly quick to dry etc

BigBellyCornflakeKid · 01/01/2007 15:27

Sorry to hijack OP a bit - but what do people think of Nature Babies stuffables - there seems to be a new design??? and what is the sizing like? Is it accurate? Thanks

SAHMof1 · 01/01/2007 15:30

From what I can tell, verdict I still out on the new Nature Babies Stuffables ? people think the Fuzzi Bunz have a better fit. I don?t use pocket nappies, but that?s the feedback people have given me.

SAHMof1 · 01/01/2007 15:31

Mind you, the Fuzzi Bunz have odd sizing, so you need to know your babies thigh width for best fit!

BigBellyCornflakeKid · 01/01/2007 15:36

Have used fuzzis before and do like them - but saw a friends nature babies stuffable in the old design and it had a gusset - which I liked. I also love the prints!

maisiemog · 01/01/2007 22:17

When I first started out I was convinced that pocket nappies would be the best option for us. That was before I realised how much they leaked on my little boy.
I still have some because they are quick to use and dry fast, but I can never relax when he has one on, keep checking his trousers for damp bits.
All in ones also seem a great option for ease of use, the downside generally is the drying time, they longer than a lot of regular fitted nappies and a lot longer than prefolds.
It's good to have a few of the different types for different situations, like an all in one for going out or baby sitters, kind of thing.
I set up a nappy blog to gather reviews of cloth nappies from cloth users and lots of people from sites like Mumsnet have left excellent information about lots of brands of nappies, so you could check that out to see if it helps??

BigBellyCornflakeKid · 02/01/2007 08:42

Good blog Maisiemog - highlights really well how different people get on with different nappies - can you put on a nature babies stuffable so can see what people think?? Thanks! I have sandys, weenotions, cuddlebuns and some lollipop ones in small to try but was thinking about some peeweez - my local fair Trade shop sells them and maybe nature babies stuffables in med/large to see me through to potty training - if the reveiews aren't great will go for either onelife or fuzzis I have tried most nappies with my first two children and my addiction has been re-ignited while awaiting arrival of no.3!

CocoLoco · 02/01/2007 09:03

I used a set of large Fuzzibunz on my DD for 2.5 years - fabulous nappies. My favourite ones when she was

Emskilou · 02/01/2007 10:44

Thank you everyone for all your replies and links and everything!! Maisiemog fantastic blog btw. I think I need to do a little research before I get anything, my dcs are quite chunky and heavy wetters so need to take that into account. Thank you again and wish me luck!!

Hi Cornflake and Emiskilou (interesting name )
Thanks for the feedback!!
That's a good point about the Nature Babies as stuffables - I think most of the reviews for them are in the Wraps section, as people often use them as wraps, but I should have a separate section for people who have used them as stuffables (not me - don't even know how they work. Is it a pocket inside or something?)
I have found hemp nappies good for my little boy who is a heavy wetter - they are slim and you can add a hemp or microfibre booster without increasing the bulk too much - problem is, not much choice for hemp nappies, compared with cotton or bamboo. [rolls eyes]
Hope you find something you like.

maisiemog · 02/01/2007 17:41

And add Lollipop stuffables as well.
Don't forget to add a review when you have tried them - let us know how you got on.

maisiemog · 04/01/2007 10:48

Doh! I just checked again and I already had Nature Babies stuffables, there are 11 comments.
I noticed the blog was getting a bit unwieldy so I sat last night and added categories, so you can find nappies by category, such as; pocket or birth to potty etc...
I hope it helps because I was having trouble finding stuff myself.
