Baby screams in car

My son is 5 months old. I've bought a mirror, various toys etc but nothing works. Been this way since birth. Much much better when he has company in the back but obviously this is not always possible. Any suggestions? Worried about what it's doing to him. Don't want him to associate cars with crying but equally need to go out. He only cries when the car is moving and will happily sit in the seat at other times so don't think seat is the issue.

And by crying/screaming I mean so much that he ends up all sweaty :( x

Front seat?

Didn't think they were allowed in a ff car seat before age 1? If they are then I'm definitely doing that!!

Check the legalities for the front seat. I think the airbag has to be turned off by a garage.

My little one loves loud music when in the car and you can get a variety of toys that will clip onto the seat for entertainment.

Is it possible that he feels car sick?

No, definitely not a ff car seat at this age but put rf in front seat so they are next to you. You need to push the seat as far back as possible and turn off the airbag.

This was my DS. A dummy helped but ultimately the solution was to ditch the infant carrier and buy an erf car seat that was suitable from birth. It wasn't a massive deal to us as we would have bought one later down the line when he outgrew the infant carrier anyway. They are bigger, higher and tend to 'scrunch' them up less so probably more comfortable. DS was much happier once we swapped. Still needed a dummy for a good while when in the car but he is still using that same seat and he will be 2 in June and still happily rear faces.

I can empathize as my dd was the same. Ultimately nothing helped but time. She started growing out of it around 6 months but was still touch-and-go until age one. We tried to have someone sitting in back with her when possible but sometimes she just had to scream it out. If it's any consolation she is now two and shows no lasting resentment.

My DS was happier in the car when we moved him at 6 months from the infant carrier to the be safe izi i-size as it's so much higher up he can see out the windows. Definitely don't consider forward facing car seat!
