Just a quicky!! - Very happy with my MEOS but the wide gusset and low leg bugs me a bit. Also very happy with my high leg, narrow gusset Tots but feel they are too bulky to use other than for night. Are these "Bumble" naps somewhere in the middle???

I haven't used MEOs but have used Tots & Bumbles. The Bumble has layer of towelling with fleece on top forming a tunnel. There is a pop in booster to go inside which when I put it in makes it fairly bulky, I don't feel it's much different to the Tots in bulk if I want a decent amount of absorption. However, I guess you could fill it with a couple of microfibre cloths which would make it slimmer. I am quite new to this though and don't really know what I'm talking about, so take this with a pinch of salt !

We've got both bumbles and tots and they seem extremely similar. Ds is only 6 months old so we use them during the day too, but I wonder whether he'll end up walking like John Wayne with them?

Hi Kiwicath. Agree with the others. I just trialed tots and bumbles and even though they were similar in bulkiness I preferred the bumbles being completely fleece inside and the fact the pop-in booster tucked away inside I could prefold them so dh and mil just had to take one out the bag and put on, and not faff around with folding the tots booster and adding a fleece liner. Plus the bumbles were just more roomy on my ds.

Have heard about the microfibre cloths being superabsorbant and hope to try them out to see if it reduces the bulk. Haven't seen the MEOS so can't compare.. Sorry - not much help!

I was just about to begin a thread to ask a very similar question. I am trialing a MEOS at the moment and am waiting for a bumble to try. Which one is better? My dd is only 9lb 2oz at present - she looks like a teletubby in the MEOS!!

MrsD, the bumble is supposed to be birth to potty, you reduce the size by removing the poppered booster and fastening the poppers in the inside to reduce the size. If you don't get on with that the 'bimble' is the birth size nappy easypeasy nappies produce, but I haven't seen one of those.

I was told that as my ds is quite broad around the waist and I wanted something that sat higher on the waist rather than hips that the bumble was better for me than the MEOS. Don't know if that helps.

Growing greens are a nice alternative to MEOS, but trimmer cos they're made from hemp. As for wlaking like John Wayne, you don't see many people over 30 walking like that, & most will have been brought up in cloth nappies.

Hi Ladies,
I appreciate your help. My bumble has arrived and it's gorgeous!! We haven't tried it on yet though.
I have to make a decision whether to go for the Motherease or Bumble now and I am torn.
How does anyone feel about the nappy nipper? Doesn't it ruin the nappies over time? I thought it looked lethal when I first looked at it. The nappy lady suggested that a nursery would probably prefer to use the Motherease for it's poppers. I do like the 'togetherness' of the bumble. Dh felt that it wasn't as good quality as the Motherease one size.

Nippas are so quick. It took about four nappies to start doing it without readjusting the whole thing. They don't appear to snag the terry if you put them on evenly (ie, don't leave it hanging by one corner or the pull will be uneven). Must admit I don't know if the NN's would like them though. Depends on how familiar they are with cloth nappies.

Yes, it's the 'togetherness' of the Bumble that sold me. Haven't seen the MEOS so I can't compare. The Bumble doesn't have that 'professional, in production for years' type of look but it's stiched well and is such a good price as you receive a booster in the main nappy price (unlike ME). I guess that's why their slogan is "affordable nappies at last"...

Sorry to be a lurker on this thread but find takling about nappies addictive. Don't know what's become of me really.
Mrs Dolittle, was wondering why you feel you have to choose between bumbles and meos. Why not get a few of each? I don't have bumbles as they weren't around when I was buying ds's nappies but have a mix of tots, meos, sandy's and terries. They're good for different times i.e. tots at night, meos when wearing stingier bottomed clothes, terries when everything else is still soaking wet etc. Also lots of babies seem to grow out of meos for a bit just before they get mobile and slim down so I'd say it was good to have a bit of variety. Don't know how nursery would affect this though, do they like just one type? Better than my mum (who looks after ds when I'm at uni) - she thinks cloth is a throwback to the bad old days and won't use it full stop

Gosh Thanks Ladies -I had no idea what I was heading for when I decided to 'research' cloth nappies. I think you are right Croak, I am tempted now to buy some of each and I like both for different reasons.

MrsD, what do you like about he MEOS? I was tempted to get them as my third trial nappy, but fell in love with the bumbles and thought there was no point in trying a third. Both Bumbles and Tots are quite bulky so I guess I'm looking for a reliable, slightly thinner cloth nappy to wear under the trousers that are a bit snug over the other two. My ds isn't fat, but is stocky and well built, so I didn't know if MEOS would be a bit small. Your thoughts?

Karen99 - I think it was reading one of your posts that encouraged me to try the bumble. Dd has quite a large tummy compared to the rest of her - she looks so comfy in it!! The MEOS was the first nappy that was recommended to me. The midwife taking our antenatal class had used them and said they were the most popular. Following this up it does seem to be the case.
There is no doubting the quality of the Motherease and the popper system is nice and easy. Hence the fact I can't decide between the two so I think I am going to order both.

Btw Karen99 I am using the bumble as its smallest - with it popped inside. The fact I have to fold the MOES down also makes it quite bulky (dd has only just hit 10lb!!). I imagine it would make a nice slimmer nappy, but TBH I wouldn't be able to tell. I would recommend trying one though!!

Thanks MrsD. I'll do the same as you and try them both! I bet your dd's bottom is bigger than her tum though! (when wrapped up in fleece of course!). A bundle of fluff! (or is that bumble of fluff!)

My ds also had/still has a big tumtum and the bumbles just have that extra fabric round the waste compared to the Tots. Easypeasynappies were doing a special blue bumble, of which I bought five, and they are even cuter than the white ones. You should approach Caroline/Alison and ask them if they're considering a pink one!

try these , they're slim and absorbent. My only problem with them is that they're not so snug around the leg as a Totsbot on my skinny toddler. Having said that, we've never had any major leaks!

Arrgh! I've done it. Spent even more money. Just bought an Ella's House hemp nappy to try rather than the MEOS. Don't ask me why cos I'm not sure myself...! Will have to wait till next month to order the MEOS. Will let you know how it goes.

Yey MrsD! Let me know how you get on with them all. After using them for a week or so you really start to find which ones you use when.

Dh is going to kill me when he finds out I've ordered yet another nappy to try. He thought moving to reusable nappies was going to save us money Now I see why everyone who uses cloth says they're addicted!

Bloss, my ds is quite stocky and has michelin legs at 11months, so I hope we have success with the hemp nappy. Fingers crossed..

I have ordered tots with aplix. The idea was it would easier for the nursery. They are also pre-fleece lined. Does anyone have experience?

They are here. It's the totsbots size 1's that fit best everything else is huge on her at the moment. It's nice to be out of disposables in this weather!!
