If your child has dinner and pudding at nursery around 4.15-4.45, do you then offer them a dinner or snack when they get home or before bed (bedtime is usually 7pm)!!

Our daughter dosent really know when she is hungry as she constantly asks for food even if she has just eaten.

If she asks for food around 6pm, is it possible for her to be genuinely hungry again? Or if she actually needs anything before bed at this age?
If you do, what do you give them?

Wonder- what other types of things would point to that sensory processing issue?
Yes she does keep eating too much unless supervised and also shovels everything like she hasn't been fed in weeks.

I'm no expert, so I wouldn't want to give you incorrect information and I think it probably varies a lot between different people. If you look up sensory processing disorder or ask on the SN boards here then people who know a bit more about it might be able to let you know typical signs. It might be completely unrelated, but eating lots of everything just sounded familiar whereas most of the other kids I know will say they're hungry and then lose interest when it's only healthy stuff and not treats that they get offered (and will only eat what's offered when actually hungry, rather than every time). The child with SPD eats a lot and puts lots of food in at once to try to get the sensory feedback in her mouth, she's less able to tell that there's too much in there.

DD is genuinely hungry by 6.30-7 if she has had tea around 4ish at nursery. We give her Weetabix, Readybrek, or nuts and fruit to snack on, occasionally toast. Not another dinner, but definitely something reasonably filling.

DD is just coming up to 2 but always needs something to eat when she finishes nursery. At home / my parents she eats a big tea at 5pm. Nursery do smaller portions and at around 3:45pm so by the time I pick her up at 6:30pm she is starving and tells me so!

I do have concerns about over feeding her. She is very large for her age and will eat constantly if allowed, but I can usually tell the difference between her just fancying something more to eat and genuinely being hungry.
