My DS3 is 2.4 and can escape from anywhere. He is big and tall for his age and this is causing us real problems. He has amongst other things learnt to beat all the stairgates in the house by either charging them ( 2 broken that way so far! ) or climbing over. Since he has learnt to scale the one on his bedroom he keeps coming in to my bedroom at night. at the moment i live in a bungalow but moving in the new year to a house.
Also can escape from the harness of his car seat in seconds and have has to buy an extra clip for it. Forgot to do it up recently when not concentrating and he wiggled out and opened the car door as i was driving. Because of his weight ( now 19.5kg ) should be in next stage of car seat but I dare not change to one that is just fastened with a seat belt accross him.
Does this sound familiar ? Have to other ds' who were lively in their time ( they are now teenagers so definately not lively any more ) but not to this extant.

I can see this in my future ds is only 13 months but already he can wriggle out of his car seat without undoing the straps even when's it's pulled tight!

I am the mother of twin houdinis. I have been posting about their exploits since they were about 10months I think.

I would offer sympathy... but I'm far too knackered!

dd is 2 next months and can open the stairgates, unlock the front door and escape from almost anywhere, it's exhausting!

Gave up on stairgates when ds2 was 18mnths either he or big brother undid them or unscrewed them from the walls . He's still a great Houdini aged 3. Nothing phases him at all. You have my complete sympathy and understanding

The good news is that they do outgrow it eventually!

Two stairgates one above the other works if climbing is the problem - we never had the battering ram approach here!

ds at three could escape from his nursery OVER the 6 foot high gates! And once shocked me when I stopped to talk to someone at the gate by punching in the combination to the combination lock. Now at 5 although he can still climb up or over just about anything he seems to have outgrown the need to escape.
