frozen baby - needs giant babygro?

our flat gets icy icy cold at night and my 2 year old is pointing this out pretty strongly at 1 in the morning most nights. He doesn't do blankets etc (not for more than 5 mins) and he's already going to bed wearing a vest, pyjamas, socks, and a heavy weight grobag. I wanted to get him a giant-size furry/fleecy babygrow-like thing but no-one seems to sell them in his size (he has long arms and legs....) anyone seen anything like this around?

what about joggers and fleece on top of PJs? I'm assuming he still wears a nappy at night - if you need to change him an all in one is a PITA

7swansaswimmingup · 26/12/2006 20:58

my 2year old ds doesnt do blankets/quilts either and gets v.cold in the night, ive now started putting a thick jumper over his vest and pyjamas and a pair of fleece jog bottoms and 2pairs of socks

duchesse · 26/12/2006 20:58

Carrefour in France, if you know anybody out there, have them up to age 12 (!!) With feet!!! In fleece.

Also make him wear a hat to conserve heat- lots lost via head.

And I sympathise about cold house- ours has been like a bloody fridge since this cold began.

PrettyCandlesAndTinselToo · 26/12/2006 21:03

What about a snowsuit?

PizPizPiz · 26/12/2006 21:12

mummymic · 27/12/2006 09:18

my 2.5 dd has a cold room and doesnt do blankets either - she goes to bed in her normal pjs and when i go to bed i turn on her oil filled radiator - keeps her lovely and warm all night

foxtrottothefestivegrotto · 27/12/2006 09:38

i had some from Boots a couple of years ago, don't know if they still do them though?

EniDeepMidwinter · 27/12/2006 10:14

I got a 24 month one from woolies and cut the feet out (for comfort-lving dd2 (3) last winter, then put woolly socks on her

she likes the fuss

SmileysPeople · 27/12/2006 10:30

I got some for my 3yr old and 6yr old from Primark last year and Dunne and Co. They love them, call them snugglesuits, and wear them in the mornings instead of dressing gowns.

princessJINGLEmelS · 27/12/2006 11:22

Yes they go up to really big sizes in mothercare.
I think the radiator idea is a good one. My dh got some tiny plug in ones a few years ago from work. I think they are oil filled.
They have a thermostat thing on them so they turn off when the get to the temp you want.
When we have them on in the kids rooms it makes a real diff.

cjmummy · 27/12/2006 12:00

I bought one in Tesco size 2-3 years reduced down to £6.00. Its not really thick but fine with a long sleeved vest underneath!

lovelymoo · 28/12/2006 11:39

matalan also do them up to age 6 they have got some in the sale

Gemmitygem · 28/12/2006 19:11

sure I saw these in H & M for older kids...

micromummy · 28/12/2006 21:10

many thanks for ideas - we've got two six pound fleece suits (age 3-4 so that should cover him up) from Tesco and a little radiator so we'll see whether he thinks comfort levels are adequate now....no doubt there'll be another reason/excuse to wake up and sing though (teeth pending)! hope he settles down again before next baby (due April)

Asda do them - saw a HUGE one for a 6 yr old today.

Skribble · 28/12/2006 21:14

Saw the ones in Primark, lovely soft fleece with feet. I got DD the fleecey PJ's really cosy.

bran · 28/12/2006 21:30

DS has one of these for chilly nights. It's actually a bit too warm for him as our double-glazing keeps the flat reasonably warm.
