Need ideas for year old's birthday party

DD will be 3 this summer and I need inspiration for what to do for her birthday party. I was thinking of hiring a bouncy castle for day for the garden, chucking a paddling pool in the garden too and inviting 8-10 of her little similar-aged buddies. And doing some sort of kids picnic. Does that suffice? Do we need to hire a children's entertainer? Do we need to do food for parents too (beers and bbq?). TIA

We dona small party in the village hall as we have a tiny house/garden, but generally we do

Lots of balloons
Lots of paper streamers
A few games ( musical statues and the like)
Party food and squash or water
Sandwiches and a few nibbles, beer tea coffee for adults

We did an entertainer for his 4 the birthday which was good but the magician struggled to keep their attention. Kids generally, like to run round like lunatics and scream.

Don't bother with an entertainer for 3 year old. Bouncy castle would be perfect. Dont combine with paddling pool though as slippery children on the bouncy castle would be a recipe for disaster! We hired village hall (didn't want to risk rain) and booked a bouncy castle for a few of our children's parties in the past - 3 and 4 years old. Add pin the tail on whatever fits your theme (they probably won't want to wear a blindfold and give a prize - packet of harbour to each child that has a go), sit down party food and your 2 hour party will fly by.

Parents can eat kids left overs. We used to provide separate parents food and drinks and of course people loved it but it's not necessary or expected and will make it expensive for you.
