(potty training that is!)

DD, is 19mo, recently she comes up to me grabs her nappy and says 'poo'. I ask her if she has 'done a poo' and she says 'yeah'.

Things is, sometimes she's done a poo, and sometimes she's not....

So, do you think I should wait a bit before I try and explain to her about the 'potty' and um, what to do?

Part of me wants to wait as I'm not sure even I'm ready for this one!!!!

Aaaargh!

my son did this to,

i just got a potty and kept it in the room for a while, so he could get used to it first. i talked about it a lot and explained what it was for but never forced him to sit on it.

he potty trained at 2yrs 3 mths.

kateandfelicity~ I have been asking the same question and got some lovely advice...

check out active thread TOP TIPSthis

I think I have been a bit to keen to get dd started at 15mths so am going to wait a while. But am still going to encourage her to sit on potty and get used to it.

I think the best advice i recieved was to wait till the weather is better and we have more time to concentrate on total potty training.

My little boy is 15 months old and I've been putting him on the potty every now and then for several months but never stuck to it religiously, just if it seemed opportune. But recently he has been sitting on it a lot so I ask him if he needs to wee and then just take his nappy off and put him on it. Sometimes he pees, sometimes not (got to tell you did about 5 poos on the potty when he was about 10 months old - sheer luck)

But I've started being a little more regular about it now and before every bath I put him on the toilet. Tonight I said: do you want to sit on the toilet and wee and he walked straight over to it. He didn't wee so i put him in the bath. After bath I said, do you want to wee on the toilet before we put your nappy on. AGain he walked over to it, I put him on it, and he did one!!

So I would say that if she's telling you she has a poo nappy, go for it. Just give it a try. Don't put too much pressure on her to get it right immediately but there's no harm in encouraging it.
