Just had my first trip in ambulance with ds! Still shaking!

I went to pick ds (2.8) up from childminder (I work partime) today and he was coughing uncontrollably and wheezing. He is just getting over THAT wheezing, coldy, coughy thing but had seemed fully over it the last few days. Anyway, on chatting for a minute I took a look at ds and knew instantly something was wrong (he is also allergic to dairy, egg, extreme allergic to peanuts .....and small intollerance to cats) strapped him in and dashed to doctors where upon they called ambulance we went to hospital. I have never ever been so bl**dy scared in my entire life. They don't know if it was an allergic reaction or whether it is this horrible viral thing but thankfully after some time on a nebulizer and a dose of sterioids he is okay and home now.

Don't know why I am really posting, probably just to unload as am a single mum and am feeling a little shaken up right now and no-one around. I guess this will no doubt be the first of many visits (what with "boy stuff" and brocken bones etc) but when I was driving him to drs. he stopped making any sound at all and I thought he had stopped breathing. God it was hideous.

huge hugs to you..that ambulance ride can be very scarey as can anytime in hospital with your little one. Glad he is better!!

Poor you, how awful for you, my heart goes out to you. Cannot imagine how you coped with it on your own but I guess you had no choice. Thankfully your DS is a lot better now though.

Poor you! Glad he is a bit better now

I imagine that like all stress points you are posting to share it and off load a little - which is what this place is for!

How frightening
Glad he is ok.

Thanks all. Can't seem to stop crying now. Think I will go to bed and watch him now. He will love the chance of sleeping in Mummy's bed for a change! I know he is fine now (certainly judging by the shennanigans he was getting up to on the ward) but not sure how fine I will be for a while! Thanks again, nice to know you guys are out there.

Well done for dealing with it all so well.
Now you're home and he's safe in bed - and you can collapse in a sobbing heap of relief for a while!
It is soooooo scary when things like this happen (I recently had a stay in hospital with DS2).
I'm glad everything is well with your DS, and I hope you both get a good night's sleep.
