I picked dds (7 and 5) up from school at 1.15pm - they have broken up for the xmas holidays. Two minutes after getting in the car they started squabbling. We got home and they have done nothing but shout at each other, punch each other and wind each other up.

They have plenty of things in the house to entertain themselves, you'd think they'd be pleased to be able to have the time to relax and enjoy their games, toys, paper and pens etc etc. Oh no! Rolling around on the floor, punching the lights out of each other is much more on their agenda.

Aaaarrrrrrghhh!

Only 14 days to go until they are back at school.

Sigh!

Lol, mine came out at 3.30 and they were horrendous on the way to the car.

Have settled down slightly since we got home.

Am sooo glad they're out later and DH has them in the morning - am almost happy to be stuck at work!

I've got my youngest (dt2) away for a few days, so I've got a bit of a break, and it gives both the dts a bit of quality time. I couldn't believe it when I picked my older two up from school for them to start fighting over who could play with dt1!!

So many mums i know, and myself included, have all said how argumentative our kids are.

Even the teachers have said kids are all hyped up.

I'm going to try to keep mine busy and tire them out if i can!!!!

Tomorrow i'm taking them for a walk to the park with a football!!

My friend and i can chat while her daughter and my 3 children get knackered!!!

HOPEFULLY!!!!!

I'll be giving them jobs to do when we get home.

I find if they help, and are kept occupied, they're not as bad as if they're sat in front of tv all day!!!

I'll probably be asleep before them every night!!!!!

They drive me nuts, and sometimes i feel like i don't want them near me when they get like that!!!!

I often wonder why i bother to do so much for them!!!

It's because i love them all so much!!!

When they're asleep!!!!!!!

busybusymum · 20/12/2006 23:47

They are all so tired at the moment.

Spare a thought for my DC as they dont break up until Friday!!!

sandcastlesforanaussiexmas · 21/12/2006 11:51

Think yur self lucky...they broke up here (Australia) last Friday & don't go bac till 29th Jan!

Summer hols.....I only have dd, 3. But have 5 kids next door....

FennelHumbug · 21/12/2006 11:54

Mine have been utterly horrible for the 1.5 days since they broke up. I was looking forward to spending time with them in the holidays but grrrrrrrrrrr grrrrrrrrrrrr

Miaou · 21/12/2006 11:57

My dds are currently having their last day at school today . I have got a craft project for each of them to do (a mini stocking to sew) that a lovely mumsnet Santa sent. Dh will get them making mince pies and we are taking them to do their Christmas shopping tomorrow. Then it's just the weekend to get through!!

Fortunately they don't fight and argue much anyway, but agree that kids that are so knackered tend to pick fights with each other!

RubberDuckWithCranberrySauce · 21/12/2006 11:58

Oh I'm so glad we're not the only ones. I've got a stinking cold (STILL!) and don't feel up to the mammoth task of keeping my two happy and separated.

So want to just shut the door on their arguing and go back to bed!

ThrockenAroundTheChristmasTree · 21/12/2006 11:58

mine drove me nuts yesterday (I am at work today).

One was constantly saying - what I can I do to help - and getting in the way and stopping me actually doing anything. He wants to help (he is 3) - but doesn't actually want to do any of the things that would actually be a help.

Yulemoonfiend · 21/12/2006 12:21

we are managing ok, have had lots of friends over and will take them to the pictures this arvo. One more visitor tomorrow (childless - so how relaxing it will be for us, while the kids vie for her attention by beating each other up on the front room carpet...)
But trust me, you guys don't know the meaning of the word 'hyped-up' unless you have a child with a birthday at Chrsitmas too...shudder

foxtrottothefestivegrotto · 21/12/2006 12:22

all i can say is 'aaaaggggggghhhhhh'! when does school start again?

RubberDuckWithCranberrySauce · 21/12/2006 12:37

Have kicked mine outside for half an hour while I clear up the whirlwind devastation in the kitchen and lounge and regroup..... argh!

Suggested activities for the afternoon which don't include infanticide, please?

Bugsy2 · 21/12/2006 12:41

Mine are so over-tired and over-hyped. DS particularly has gone into total meltdown the last few nights. I'm hoping after a few days they will settle down a bit. (They will, won't they??????)

RubberDuckWithCranberrySauce · 21/12/2006 13:09

God I hope so - I've just tried to set ds1 up on the main computer and dh has left it with all sorts of cables unplugged - only just got the monitor working and I want him on Cbeebies NOW so I can have a cup of tea, damnit!

MerryChristmasPANDAGHappyNewYe · 21/12/2006 13:14

Agree Yulemoonfiend - DS was 7 on Sunday. They are busy making Christmas cards for the rellies at the moment. I can fell a brisk walk coming on later to tire them out!
