Need to vacuum once a day suggestions

Used to vacuum 3times a week before but now LO is 5m and likes to play on the floor I feel I need to vacuum at least once a day.

Can anyone suggest a good compact vacuum cleaner? Nothing to expensive, I currently had a VAX bag less cylinder type but that's too heavy to carry up & down, 10yrs old & bendy pipe clip is broken. So need a new one anyway.

Suggestions would be great!! Thanks

Would love one of those dysons but there so expensive Shock

We have a Henry, I hate him! Bloody thing gets stuck round corners, tips over and then sits there smirking at me! He's too heavy. I'm willing him to die so I can get a cordless dyson.

I worked out a cleaner was cheaper so have one pop in once a week and just stay dirty the rest of the time Grin

I have a Dyson. It's thoroughly abused and always comes up trumps.

Incidently, I have a two year and an eight month old, and vacuum daily. I had no idea two little people could create such a mess - crumbs, PlayDoh confetti, raisins (even when they've not been eating them), shredded tissues, sand/twigs/bark/other crap from the park. I'm amazed at the people who only vacuum weekly 😮

TeaBreak1 · 18/01/2016 14:00

I have a Henry the best hoover I have ever had. I hoover the whole house once a day then kitchen, dining room and play room at least twice more. We have a bigish 4 bed house and after going through several hoovers got a Henry 5 years ago.

Ragwort · 18/01/2016 14:13

I also can't understand why people need to vacuum every day (unless you have hairy pets Grin) - what are you all doing that your carpets get so messy? Or am I just a complete slob ?

Lightbulbon · 18/01/2016 14:18

Its more hygienic to put a washable throw down for the little one to pay on.

UmbongoUnchained · 18/01/2016 14:19

It's just me and my toddler but I carpet is constantly covered in crumbs and buys if food or stuff that's blown down the chimney. I Hoover at least twice a day in my living room.

BackforGood · 18/01/2016 14:42

After 30+ years working my way through other cleaners, I bought myself a Henry last year and absolutely love it.

However, I think vacuuming every day is ridiculous.

Haroldplaystheharmonica · 18/01/2016 16:05

I hoover every day downstairs as I can't stand bits! I like a tidy house and knowing I've hoovered, cleaned the kitchen, wiped down the bathroom every day makes me feel better. Sad, I know!

I couldn't have a cleaner, I'd want them to call in every day. Once a week? No way!

cocacola1006 · 18/01/2016 16:12

I often want to hoover everyday but it's usually every other downstairs and 2x a week upstairs. But I have a Labrador and cats with light wood laminate flooring that shows fur easily.
I have two hoovers and one of those little mini Hoover things that you charge up- they're like the handle part of a Henry and very good if it's laminate and big crumbs, but slack when it comes to fur on carpet. Which is why I have a big Hoover too

"I'm amazed at the people who only vacuum weekly"

That's because we are way past the baby/toddler stage. DD is 15. and tends to cover the settee in crumbs, which is why we have a throw.

And we don't have pets.

Eachpeachpearplum1985 · 18/01/2016 16:39

I have an 8 month old baby. Any food mess is in the kitchen on a wipe clean floor and I don't have pets. Once a week is more than enough for now. When DS is a toddler I may eat my words....

Philoslothy · 18/01/2016 17:36

However, I think vacuuming every day is ridiculous.

There are a minimum of 8 of us in this house, often more due to sleepovers, visiting friends etc, that includes two preschoolers who are in the house during the day to make a mess. We also have cats, dogs, Guinea pigs, rabbits, horses and a few farm animals which means people walking in and out all day with muddy boots. If we did not Hoover every day we would literally be wading through shit.

JassyRadlett · 18/01/2016 18:43

We ditched years of Dyson for a Miele - twice as good. If we ever split up, it would be hotly contested.

Luna9 · 18/01/2016 21:46

Proper hoovering all the house once a week but the kitchen, around the dinning room and sometimes living area do need sweeping or hoovering more often depending of how much rubbish I see laying around. No toddlers nor babies or pets in this House hough.

OolonColluphid · 18/01/2016 21:55

I won an AEG ergorapido and its great for whizzing round. I said I'd get the Dyson out when I want a thorough clean but I haven't yet.
