"Fuck!"

He has been away with dh for the weekend and has come back saying it!
He obviously doesn't know what it means (I don't think)
He runs about saying "Fucky Fuck Fuck"!!!
I've asked him who says this and he just replies "I do"!!!

I've tried ignoring him..but he keeps saying it
I've tried telling him off and telling him its not a nice word but he forgets and says it anyway..
Do you think he'll forget about it???

errmm I think you need to have a strong word with his dad or whoever said it in front of him.

He's only saying it because he's heard it.
Just tell him he mustn't say it and then sanctions if he keeps saying it - whatever works, time out on stairs, take away a toy etc. I think he's old enough for that TBH.

Yes...dh has been home and his whole family sware like troopers!

I will have to start getting cross as it gets embarressing!

Find him another word to use instead - one that he thinks is a naughty word but that won't make little old ladies faint in horror when they hear it on the bus. My sister's youngest spent several months shouting "STOCKINGS!" at everyone when she was 3 ... but it was better than the "bugger" it replaced.

And then give dh an earful until he realises that he has to stop his family swearing in front of your son.

i would ignore it and come up with a replacement word, go into the kitchen dropping something messy and shout "fiddlesticks" or something more pleasing to los ears repeatedly, to avoid the whole getting negative attention thing.

wwb-great minds think alike?

Or fools seldom differ

You would be surprised at how rude some words can sound when they're said in that sweary tone of voice ...

I had a similar problem with 6 yr old Ds, who thinks it's ok to say "bloody hell" because Ron int eh Harry potter films says it!

ludaloo · 20/12/2006 13:22

Right...thats a good idea ladies thenk you...I'll give it a whirl!!!

Dh will get a telling off...although he finds it all highly amusing!!!!

I think, seriously, that you need to stop dh finding it amusing. While your dh doesn't take it seriously he's unlikely to be doing anything to stop it happening, and your son will keep bringing these words home - particularly if he's realised that it makes Daddy laugh and apparently gained his approval.
