Are you living the bedtime dream?

My Dd is 3.5 and goes to sleep at 7.30 and wakes up at 5.30.

Not looking for advice about early waking but just wondering if anyone does actually live the dream of their dc sleeping from 7 to 7?!!!

I daren't be too smug as it'll bite me on the ass no doubt but DD1 (7) was, and still is great at going to bed between 6-7 even now really aged 7 but is an early riser! Always up between 5.30-6.30 no matter what time she goes to bed. Lots of 5am starts when she was younger!
DS1 15 months sleeps 6.15-7.30 and still has a morning nap around 9 for an hour and a 2-3 hour nap at about 1! It's ridiculous...however he is fully fledged bonkers and destroys everything in the short time he's awake! Wasn't a great sleeper until about 2 months ago and now he just loves his bed! He even asks to go by standing a the door with his blanket and shouting 'bebebebe' who am I to stop him Grin

7:30 to 6:45 is the best we can do but there's often (though not always) a bad dream or other wake up that needs a wee cuddle in the night.

LillyBugg · 23/12/2015 19:15

Erm...me...15 mo DS sleeps 7-7, sometimes 8am, sometimes 6am. But I'm fully aware he is only 15 months and it could all go horribly wrong at some point. I did do the first 8 months of not sleeping through, im hoping that's my fair share?

Yes but it was very very hard won. Twins, 3 in February, go to bed between 6.30 and 7, wake up normally after 7, occasionally before sometimes (rarely!) one will sleep on til 8-ish. But they were horrendous until about 15 months (I would barely get an unbroken hour) and pretty rubbish thereafter until about 2 or so

LBOCS2 · 23/12/2015 19:18

3yo DD does 8pm-8.30am, which is much more civilised.

But 4/7 nights she wakes and comes to find us then goes back to sleep, as long as one of us is with her.

And she doesn't self settle. So bedtime is an hour of laying in a dark room for her.

But, you know. Mostly we get some sleep!

poocatcherchampion · 23/12/2015 19:20

Yes we have 7ish til 7.30 ish plus 3/2 hour naps for the 2/3 yo respectively. which is why we now have a newborn, who aside from sleeping in my bed also sleeps like a treat.

Not boasting, just answering the question, but yes it is awesome!

CarrotPuff · 23/12/2015 20:55

I feel your pain. 2yo here, in bed by 7.30-8, and awake 5-5.30. Occasionally he'll sleep till 6. He's always been prone to early wake ups...

Notfastjustfurious · 23/12/2015 21:06

My 3 year old is great goes to bed at 8pm and wakes between 8-8.30. Been doing that since 10 months old so we had another. My now 18 month old has never gone longer than 2 hours and takes forever to settle - 2 hours so far tonight and barely a closed eye. Should have quit while I was ahead . (Love her little face really)

jeavcike · 23/12/2015 23:33

I have 2 dc (3&4) and they're usually in bed for 7pm, sometimes a little later. They wake anywhere from half 6, though it's usually after 7 (and sometimes as late as 8!) They happily play quietly in their rooms for half hour or so after waking.

They have always been good sleepers and have been staying in bed, asleep, in the mornings for well over a year now. They get a treat for not getting up at the crack of dawn - if they get so many stickers they get to choose a magazine at the end of the week.

Yes I'm smug and I'm fully expecting it to bite me on the backside at any time!

ceeveebee · 23/12/2015 23:40

Sorry as I'm going to sound smug but my 4 yo twins have slept 7-7 since about 5 months old, although now it's more like 8-730. They also have not quite realised that they can get out of bed in the mornings by themselves so just lie they chatting away till I go in their room.

fructos · 23/12/2015 23:40

DD 2yo sleeps through from 9.30pm to 9.30am, she has done since she was 10mo. That's just right for me as I'd hate to be woken any earlier Grin.

Purplehonesty · 23/12/2015 23:47

Dd sleeps 7.30-7.30 sometimes 8am.

It's bliss.

Oh I forgot about ds though. He likes to get up 6am
I do not like it so much. We end up creeping about ssshing so we don't wake dd.

Rockingaround · 23/12/2015 23:56

Oh I just needed to put in a 2'peneth for the bleary eyed amongst us 😀 my DD now 5 and a 1/2 has NEVER slept through the night. Neither has my son now 3 although he's more restful - only waking once, my DD can wake anything from 3-4 times, just popped in now actually, DH is off to lie on her floor until she falls asleep again but more often than not he pulls out the chair bed and falls asleep on her floor! I see to DS who will go back to sleep if installed next to me as he is now .... And it's not even midnight. We're expecting our third! Well, we just s'pose we're in for a penny here. Lol

AbeSaidYes · 23/12/2015 23:58

My five year old goes to bed at 9pm, wakes at least twice a night and wakes at 7. You, OP, are living the dream.

blondiebonce · 24/12/2015 00:02

I do have a pretty lazy 17mo. 7pm-9/9.30am. Am actually planning to start gettingup earlier in the New Year ready for nursery. Every night I do worry she's going to change!

LittleMiss77 · 24/12/2015 10:02

I'm sure i'm tempting fate here but my 5mo sleeps 7pm - 6am (with a bottle at 930pm)

Pollyputhtekettleon · 30/12/2015 08:54

Yes! Dd goes to bed at 7 and sleeps to 8 often. At least 7.30. She is 16mths and has done this every night since 6mts. She goes into her cot, lies down and waves and blows kisses. Bedtime takes less than 2 mins with her.

Ds has slept through since 9mts. He is 3 now. 95% of the time does 8pm to 7-7.30am.
