do your kids jump in the bath with you?

Hi I was just wondering if you let your children jump in the bath with you? and what ages they were when you stopped it? And does it matter on the sex of the child?

Curious as a lot of people have different opinions so I thought I'd get great feedback on here.

Thank you

Xx

If I put in posh bath stuff, candles, wine, magazine, DS2 is in there like a shot, usually shouting for his dad to bring him squash and a book, so he can "relax".

I just wondered if it was everyone's first thought. 'No DC in my bath they will see me nekkid' Shock Grin

I've got children of varying ages and never had any qualms about bathing with them, trust me there comes an age when they would rather give their Xbox/iPad away that bath with you or see you nakedWink

donkir mentioned the nakedness Outs for me it doesn't have anything to do with not wanting the DC to see me naked.

It has come up on past threads where people were assumed to be uptight.

GeorgiaT2468 · 06/12/2015 21:27

Fair comments. It don't bother me personally but my friend was appalled at me lol! I was like it's not like my eldest is 15 and sharing with me, he's 5 and still my baby.. I don't get the issue but just wanted to see what you guys thought.. I may show her this thread.. Xx

I would stop telling her stuff TBH, nobody wants comments on their parenting especially from people who are not parents yet.

dementedma · 06/12/2015 21:31

I prefer my bath to myself as time away from the dcs. Can't think of anything positive about sharing it with a chatty, fidgetty little one. No thanks

5madthings · 06/12/2015 21:34

Ime they stop when they are ready to.

My youngest two will happily hop in with me, they are 7 and 5.

Elder boys are 16, 13 and almost 11, they haven't bathed with me for ages but are more than happy to come into the bathroom when I am in yhe bath or shower and chat with me, and are not remotely bothered by seeing me naked. The eldest two keep themselves covered up now but the almost 11 yr old isn't quite at the keeping himself coveted stage and doesn't mind me seeing him naked.

starry0ne · 06/12/2015 21:36

My DS stopped about 7 on my insistance really..We have a small bath and there wasn't room... However he still see's me naked.

And as fffffffed up said he is likely to need at least a wee or poo when I am in the bath

GeorgiaT2468 · 06/12/2015 21:42

Lol..

I don't tell her stuff really, I keep my life the way it is and to myself because it's my life but it was just a general funny conversation me and the eldest had in the bath about splashing daddy if he comes in and wants a poo lol so that's what we did, we splashed him and the reaction of him was priceless. Daddy got sis led and screamed like a girl.. I repeated this and when I finished she could only respond to the fact me and my boy were in the bath, naked!!

Lol odd friend clearly xx

Don't show her this thread now you have called her odd.Grin

Ahardmanisgoodtofind · 06/12/2015 21:52

Ds is 5.5 and dd is only 21 weeks, we all jump in together almost nightly, it's just easier. Although I do try have a proper bath alone as much as possible one in a blue moon ds and dp will also share a bath if dp is around at bath time. No room for dd.if/when the kids say no we'll stop.

GeorgiaT2468 · 06/12/2015 21:52

Lol yeah good point!!

Although I did say her reaction was very odd and maybe she has issues if she's so repulsed by it..

I did ask well how do you feel about the fact I change nappies and teach my children how to wash their intimate areas properly or hold their willys so they pee in the toilet not around it?? Lol

It's a part of being a parent. She said she wouldn't be able to do that!!

Well best she doesn't have children really.. Lol Hmm xx

When she does you can be on hand to advise. Wink

GeorgiaT2468 · 06/12/2015 21:55

My partner don't have an issue as such he just says he doesn't want his children to see a grown mans willy lol so chooses not to be naked in front of them which is fair enough.

Iv had questions like mummy why do you have a mini and we have willys and why do you have hair on it and we don't. So Iv explained as best as I can to my little ones but my partner says he wouldn't like to be in that position and would rather me explain lol xx

I bath with both of my DS (nearly 4 and 7 months). One of my favourite moments was when I was pg with DS2 and DS1 gave the baby a drink by pouring a teapot of water on the bump. Super sweet!
