Dear All

I am currently working on a Kilroy programme about older mums and would love to hear from any of you if this applies to you or if you have strong views on it. We are recording the programme this Wednesday 8th May so I would love to tell you more about it asap if you could call me on 0208 228 7454. I look forward to hearing from you.

Kind regards
Emma Gascoigne

I'm going a bit deaf and my eyesight's not all it used to be and I don't want to miss my bingo. So I'll have to pass dear, if you don't mind.

LOL Rhiannon!!

How old is an 'older' mum anyway?

Well from what I've reading in the media lately, I was under the impression it was not possible to be an older mum as you become infertile at around 26....

aloha · 07/05/2002 10:09

Yes, I expect 26 is what they mean by an older mum.

Feel as if I should have a purple rinse, and I'm only 32 last wednesday!

leese · 07/05/2002 18:37

Isn't Wednesday Pension Day? ... the queue's usually gone by 11.30, so I could make it any time after that.....

I can't believe that story about declining fertility even made the news. It's been known for donkey's years that a woman's fertility peaks around the age of 27. Well, it's got to peak some time, hasn't it? I was incredulous to hear the way it was reported, as though you'd better get your children in by age 27, or it's too late. Real mediocre journalism.
