Amby Natures nest - any advice?

Hi all, this is my first post so please be gentle with me! I have a 10 day old baby girl and we invested in a natures nest for her after reading so many great reviews on the net, here and elsewhere. She seems content in it so far and sleeps well, but we're a little worried that with the curve to the mattress, her back is never straight (I put her in a rocker during the day, also curved). Is this a problem? Also, if anyone here has a natures nest, do you still put baby in the feet-to-foot position? We are doing this because we're frightened she'll wriggle underneath the blankets if we don't - but her feet seem to be a little higher than her head when we do this and we weren't sure if this was a bad thing or not. So if anyone who has used the natures nest could put our minds at rest or offer any advice, we'd be really grateful. Thanks!

Hi, I've used a natures nest and have always found them wonderful. I didn't put them in feet to foot because it tilts them at a funny angle. You must put lots of covers on in the nest a they get too warm. I just swaddled mine and then there was no worry of wriggling.

it is actually much better for her back to lie in the nest than be flat on the bed. There are no pressure points and her spine is supported. I hope you continue to get many more months use out of it

I used the Amby nest for DD from birth (she's now 4 months) but only for daytime naps. I'm not worried about the curve because the Nest itself is based on S-E Asian baby slings made from batik sarongs which curve and mould themselves around the baby. My Dad slept in one of these batik slings throughout his babyhood and he doesn't have and has never had back problems. But I see you're putting your DD in the Nest at night, so I'm afraid I can't help there.

I put my DD in about the middle of the mattress so that her head is slightly higher than her feet, and used a sleeping bag. HTH

hi, we just swaddled the baby in a light blanket when she was wee, and plonked her in the middle of the hammock (after fannying around in the feet to foot position for a while and realising it looked very weird ).
they really don't want a straight back at the moment, i think. babies have spent a long time smushed up so it takes a while for them to uncurl. that was one of the things that sold me on the hammock, tbh. congratulations on your new baby, by the way...

Hi there, thankyou so much for your responses! We'll try swaddling and sleeping bags and see how we get on. DD does seem to sleep very well in the hammock, she's our first baby so we don't really know what to expect, but I thought we'd be getting a lot less sleep than we are!

scoobi, I used these with my last dd, they make swaddling so so easy. DD absolutely loved them. It was actually cheaper to buy them from the states, if that makes sense.here
