Gender neutral children's clothing

I am interested in what parents think about gender neutral clothing for their children to wear?

What sort of themes and colours would you consider be best for both genders?

I am really interesting in hearing everyone's thoughts and views on this. :)

It was mainly the suggestion of Peacocks. They did have some rubbish but in amongst that was copies of some of the things I'd liked in Boden but were too expensive. Like fairisle knitwear in black and white for example and some lovely animal prints.

I too agree about the mothercare little bird range but they don't sell it here. I did get packs of vests from there though in perfect colours like turquoise, orange and lime green.

OutsSelf you are my hero! My husband wears pink (and looks great in it) so I don't see why my son shouldn't wear pink too. I've just found out I'm having a boy (first dc) and have started looking at a few clothes. The really gender specific stuff annoys me but I am also irritated by the idea that gender neutral= what were traditionally boys' clothes. It's as if we are telling girls that they won't be taken seriously if they look too much like a girl. Women shouldn't be taught that it is a man's world and they have to fit in to that.
The only answer I can see to this is to dress boys in tights/ skirts/ frills, etc.
Disclaimer: I am pregnant and irritated by everything at the moment!

I like the Little Bird range in Mothercare- plenty of bold colours, nice retro design and stuff that works for both genders.

I think H&M's girls clothes are very disappointing compared to the boys. The boys clothes seem to be really practical with interesting designs (spaceships and insects and wolves) but the girls stuff seems to be a never-ending sea of pink taffeta and simpering kittens.

I love the Polarn O Pyrat stuff, my two year old has a few pieces.

What I would love is t shirts, trousers etc in plain, bright colours. Purples, greens and yellows are not easy to come by and often have a some sort of embellishment on. I would prefer it plain, striped or maybe with stars on. I'm always disappointed when I look at a pack of leggings in say, Sainsbury's and they are navy, but with sequins on or the plain long sleeved tops have a pointless bow on them. I think there are plenty of people who would like plainer, brighter clothes for their children.

And yes to the simpering kittens in H n M!

I found this one the other day in next...probably the only sleepsuit I've ever found in there that could pass on a boy as well as a girl. But it comes in a pack with 2 pink ones Hmm

The deer look very pink in that picture but are in fact more of a red!

Both my DDs get dressed in "boy's" clothing some of the time. Until about 6mo most of the clothes were handed down from their male cousin.
They are currently 2 & 4 and into cars, trains and diggers among other things.
another possible theme is zoo/farm animals.
