Potty questions

We have just started potty training DS 2.3, so far so good. He uses the potty all the time at home. But i dont really know how to deal with taking him to the toilet when we go out. We havent ventrued out of the house without his nappies yet, as he seems scared to sit on the toilet without his little seat. Actually he doesnt seem to like using the toilet at all.
Should i buy a travel potty or,
Should i carry his toilet seat attachement everywhere with me? or can i buy a folding one somewhere?
any advice appreciated

I used to hold dd on strange toilet seats she did not like travel potty. must admit for first week only went out for short periods of time before we had to use public toilets. I also found the best ones first so I knew we would go to a nice one. My friend carried seat everywhere but if she forgot it caused problems Hope this helps

cori, i used the portable potty from mothercare with dd and it was a Godsend. I could stop the car even at any time,(withtin reason!), and she could 'go' in the car, then you wrap the bag up and bin it!
It's great

Good luck

I have a normal potty in the car in case a 'poop' is needed. You can get a 'Toodleloo' which is a fold up travel seat and was discussed a few weeks ago Here . Personally I just get DS to stand when out.

I think i will get a toodle loo. I have tried holding him on a toilet seat but doesnt like it very much.
He is not been wearing a nappy at home the past few days. The only accidents are when he cant find the potty.
When do i know if he is ready for nappy free outings.?

I just had a week at home, the first week, then after that, (Only 3 or so weeks into it) I take it as it comes and make sure I know where the nearest toilet is etc. He won't have a wee 'just because' yet, but luckily have been OK so far. Just take a bag with a couple of changes of clothes, pants and socks out with you and see what happens. (I thought I be glad to get rid of the nappy change bag, now it's twice as big with extra clothes, spare plastic bags etc!!)
