Right, rant time. Can I just beg of all you lucky MNers who attend a P&T group and who have a nice group of friends around you just to have a look around you next time and if you spot a poor unfortunate person with a small child or two who is ABSOLUTELY friendless and alone and verging on tears, talking in a fake bright cheerful voice to her LO - to PLEASE at least smile at her? Hell, you could even strike up a conversation or even, gasp, introduce allow her to join in your conversation and intorduce her to some other people. No...it'd never happen

hi Baysmum. Those snooty St Leonards toddler groups not working out then?

brimfull · 07/12/2006 11:33

I quite like them, met some good friends there. It does take two to make a conversation start.HAve you tried being more approachable, smiling, makinf polite conversation however inane it sounds to you. It's a two way thing, but I do make an effort if someone looks lonely with no one to takl to,

haha! Damn you've got me, not St Leonards this time but close! Damn, have ruined my trying to be positive stance - dont tell on me Fennel! Ggirl- without meaning to be rude of course I have made an effort etc - Im not toatlly clueless. I just think that if you are in the position of knowing people its easier for you to be the one to help out the poor unfortunate stuck on her own. I have been in that position before and would always try to include others, particularly if they looked lost.

Unisarah are you local? do you have any connection with Exeter uni?

Kidstrak · 07/12/2006 17:23

Hi Baysmum, thats a bit sad that no one came and spoke to you! I attend 4 toddler groups and in 2 of them i befriend new people coming in through the door, i walk up to them and introduce myself and show them the ropes! I once was in your position when i was 17 and attending toddler groups, no one spoke to me for the first 6wks but i kept going back for my ds to play with kids his own age, i have now been at that one since the year 2000 and now help run it! Stick at it and someone will speak eventually, i don't suggest a fake fainting or anything
