I'm currently using Pampers Newborn for my four week old son who is long skinny fellow.

The problem I have is that half the time the nappy does not seem to work very well when he does a wee. It is not that the nappy is leaking is that it seems like it is not "catching" the wee which means he ends up with a very wet top which wakes him up if he is alseep.

Dealing with wet clothes and sheets I can handle it is him waking up with is most annoying Can any suggest any tips or tricks to stop this happening or suggest another brand of nappy which might fit him better.

Not sure what you mean by not leaking but not catching the wee

Are you making sure his penis is pointing downwards into the nappy when you put it on?

i used safeways own with ds when he was small and then i used huggies when he was toddling around, however 4yrs later i used pampers with my dd as they were different from before and i had no problems, try make sure his little man is tucked down before putting the nappy on to prevent him wetting himself, failing that try another brand that fits more snuggly round his tummy!

I'm not positioning his penis as I was not sure if you should/could do this. From your comment I assume that it is ok to do this??

My ds is 2.5 weeks and I thought he had a special talent for peeing up his back - couldn't work out how he was managing it (and still haven't really...)

Many complete clothes changes later, we're using Tesco own brand nappies and making sure his penis is pointing down the way. No more leaks (so far, touch wood...)

i use reusables but my cousin swears by aldi nappies. she says all of the others leaked with her DTS's.

i find the pampers baby dry were better than the pampers new born as the tabs were stratchy and were more absorbant than the newborn ones, they start at a size 2 which would probably fit 2.5 week old, i found huggies leaked as the wee would run down the creases inthe bottom and legs and out of the nappy - she has a chubby bum and legs but is very long too

If he's skinny, try boots own brand - they worked well with ds1. Having said that, I switched to cloth nappies, andhave had no leaks with ds2 at all.
