Okay so the description of what I what I had to do was:

essay 3000 to 3,500 words on some aspect of music education. This needs to show evidence of research and/or original thinking.

My assessor now wants a bibliography (which was not mentioned ever) showing which other research documents I have read (which was also not mentioned)and discuss these.

I realise that the whole of mumsnet is probably thinking "silly girl - fancy not knowing you needed that", but this has genuinely taken me by surprise as I have flown through the other elements and courses using the same layout and style. I got a distinction for my paper from the college of education, which was worth the same number of points as this one.

This close to Christmas and the end of term I just want to throw in the towel really.

I'm getting a "fully annotated" copy of my work back from the examiner. It sounds like I will be having a Merry Christmas. Next week is hideous with it being the last week of term, so lets hope it takes her a while to get to the postoffice!

I have ds in preschool as usual the week after (which is my birthday). I pretty much know what I will be doing, but hopefully I can do it on a beach.

"Much present published research concentrates on the bond of sharing music with one child (name them), sharing music in a preschool setting, which will have few if any parents present (name them), sharing music with a group of same age or ability children and their parents(name them) or concentrates on the musical response in children with disabilities (name them). "

What do you think? Then I will go on to mention any interesting or relevant findings from their research, which will be a sentence here or there at best.

Then I will follow the rest of P&Ls excellent suggestions.

That sounds good. Have you had guidance about how to format the refs? In some fields of work you put (name, date) after the quote and in others you just have a number in square brackets - in both cases with a full list at the end.

Just got an email from my examiner to say she is happy - and is letting me know before Christmas with the formal stuff to come when the exam board reconvene etc.

Brilliant Christmas present.

Thanks everyone that helped me - I totally could not have done it without you (well not in 2 weeks anyway!)

I have told dh to remind me that I have said I'm not doing another qualification!

I've definately been put off doing a doctorate (at least for a little while )
