Talk to me about 4 year age gaps

Am expecting DC2 next May so will have exactly 4 yr age gap as DD turns 4 in May. Had originally planned a 3 yr gap as was nice for me as a child with my younger sister but it hasn't worked out that way. I'm hoping the fact that DD will be at pre-school/school will help as will have some 1:1 time with baby & maybe go to baby massage classes etc which I really enjoyed last time. Decided against a smaller age gap as we have zero family support & think I would have struggled with baby toddler combo. Positive stories please!!

41/2 yr gap here not by choice . Has worked really well . Eldest DS now 14 and DD 9 - they get on well and always have .

My DS is 19 and my DD 15. Have never really thought much about it. They are good friends and as my DD is quite mature it doesn't seem to matter.

Dd1 is 22 dd2 is nearly 18 i didnt want a baby and a toddler either it was geat 1-1 with each you need to watch with the eldest mine thought she was missing out when baby was at home so you just make sure you do something with them. Growing up the getting on was peaks and troughs but all siblingscan be like that they get on great.

I have 3.9 between my two and it has been wonderful. We did try to have them closer but it wasn't to be. Now I am really glad they are not too close in age, DD1 has a very dominate personality and would have struggled to share me at 2 or 3. As it was DD2 is mercifully laid back and happy to go along with all DD1's ideas, games and schemes!

I think the hard bit will be once DD1 moves on to another stage in a few years. Hopefully they will still find fun things to do together.

They are 7 and 3.5 now.

Love this thread! 4 years and 1 month gap here - two DDs and so far so good - so much so if we try for a third it would be to have the same kind of gap
