A family member has bought a baby walker for ds which I am very grateful for. My friend said they shouldn't be used now. Is she right ?
Thanks

Do you mean one that they sit in that has wheels and they can roll themselves around the room? Then no, should not be used due to risk of being top heavy, baby toppling over and getting hurt or stuck under the walker.

If it's one that is a push around the room style (eg. like a stroller but with an activity face on it) then I haven't heard anything bad about them.

I think if it's the type they sit in and use their feet to 'walk' around they are not advised to be safe partly because the whizz about and some children have fallen down stairs etc but also because it's not good for their hips! (I'm not a physio, so worth checking with someone who is)

Yes I mean the sit in ones, thanks for the advice.

They are not recommended these days

For very short bursts (say 15 mins a day) they do no harm but overuse does not promote actually normal walking and can actually exacerbate any existing problems with hip and/or foot posture

Say thanks and store it in the attic/freecycle it for something else Smile

They live 3 hours away so will take a picture of ds sitting in it and then store it:)
