Dad friendly hair bobbles?

I can't believe this hasn't been asked before but I can't seem to find anything! Now my daughter has started school she needs her hair tied up each day, up to now I do it before I leave for work at 7 but I'm going away next week. My husband has tried tying her hair up but she's got a very sensitive head (like me) and suffers when he tries. But he also struggles with hair bobbles, not managing to manipulate them with his big fingers! Our daughter has fine hair so large ones don't seem to quite do the job. Are there any recommendations for dad friendly hair bobbles?

I bought DD a minion set at Sainsbury's and the elastic bands in them were lovely...I don't know how to describe them but they are flat on the sides instead of round, very soft, and easy to wrap around several times. The bobbles themselves were dark blue but came with minion clips. Maybe you could try there and see if they have some other neutral options with the same kind? Basically they were the same shape as a rubber band but covered in cloth if that makes sense.

How about those coiled ones? Can get them in Boots and Asda. They are like a telephone cord or those stretchy key rings and you don't need to wind them round much as they grip well.

The polka-dotted ones in this photo are the kind I mean...basically the shape of a rubber-band, which hopefully your DH has had practice with!

This is really lame, but if he really struggles surely one of the fine fingered mums at school would help out??

I just remembering the tears of hair pulled into pony tails when I was little.

I let DH do DDs ponytail (badly) with much fuss (from him) then send her off to school. At home time she has a lovely neat ponytail. This is because the teachers re do the do!

Thanks for all the replies, there is plenty of food for thought!
